Eagle_Adam
the body work/rest repair continues! Still......... I think we are about done with the body/rust now :D!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta finish up the brakes, idler arm, emissions delete, and then test everything we have done to make sure its all up to par. The deadline has been set, jassifrass need to be able to drive to school on the 24th! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
the drivers door is pretty bad compared to the rest bottom Inside found out why tho, its the only door with the window channel felt missing so in rainy oregon weather it turns into a swimming pool in the door....... It's not so much the rain gets in as pine needles, dirt and leaves get in and act as a sponge holding the water in there, just like behind the front fenders. The door has drain holes and theses are plugged. BTW I have plastic inner liners on my cars to prevent dirt and road crap from flying in there behind the front wheels. Seems like yours are mission? or just removed?? Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
they were just removed to clean the car mike, most of the debris were from the cowl drain. I saw a write up i think figbuck did where he put screen on the under side of the cowl to stop shit from dropping in. That is another thing i want done to help this gem stay alive Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I've used fly screen in front of the rad too. Keeps the bug from plugging the fins. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
I've used fly screen in front of the rad too. Keeps the bug from plugging the fins. Not a bad idea, ill probably end up doing that before the wagon hits the road. Quote Link to comment

Eagle_Adam
Soooooo all of this gets done by friday night! Banner, jassifrass and I come out to wrench saturday and banner is uder the wagon working on the idler arm and im filling the rad when i hear him holler to STOP! So i do, and take a peek under the wagon, ATF is pouring out of the vent on the trans!!!! At first im like WTF? then i see the radiator level still dropping and more ATF pouring out, than im really like WTF!!!!!   AND THEN!!!!!! then coolant starts to pour out the vent on the trans!!!! And it hist me, the new radiator we put in must have had a failure between the ATF cooler and the Rad itself letting coolant into the trans. Sooooooo, now its time to drain and drop the trans so we can replace the rear main and drain the trans as much as possible of the water and coolant that has accumulated in the system  Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
And so begins the race to get the wagon running ASAP. Tonight will be an all hands on deck event of me and the friends i trust helping me out!!! On the list: replace idler arm and bushings drop and drain the trans replace the rear main seal get the new hatch lock functioning valve adjustment Re-bench bleed the MC install the MC bleed the break system install the newest radiator and what ever else i forgetting about right now...... Eagle_Adam
Damn, that's rough. Ya, it was unexpected to say the least. Ive read tons on ratsun and other sites and never heard of this happening. BUT from now on i will be checking every rad i put into an automatic car!!! If I were closer, I'd be there. I bet you would be micro! No worries, ive got a few good sets of hands coming and that about all that can work on the wagon at one time :D Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Found a rad in a 610 wagon at a local JY cleaned and ready for paint! this time i tested to make sure its good  Quote Link to comment
INDY510
get the new hatch lock functioning My rear hatch "push button" lock, keeps slipping off the push arm, inside the rear hatch panel .. . so I have that vynil panel removed, and climb over the back seat whenever it slips off, and the "push button" lock becomes useless and Hellaflush with the rear hatch .. ..... it's a poor design .. . I want to weld a big washer onto the stud that pushes the latch arm Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
I almost snagged that radiator. Glad it didn't get crushed. Quote Link to comment

I almost snagged that radiator. Glad it didn't get crushed. ME TOO!! saved out ass's cus the only other option is a big trans cooler hanging off the front -.- and that would be OK but not very clean or in the long term plans so eventually it would have gotten removed after i found an aluminum radiator Quote Link to comment

Laecaon
Ugh, flywheel/flexplate bolts in car. No fun. Looks like you are making this car a great driver! 1 Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
thats the plan laecaon! after all this the only weak link is the power plant, smoked like a mofo prior to this round of repairs and it smoked on the decel so i think its top end related. Once shes running again i can begin to diagnose the motor issues. Honestly i just wanna find another L20 block and build a new motor and just swap them. Quote Link to comment
Skib
after all this the only weak link is the power plant  thats always been an issue Quote Link to comment
