  1. Seriously though, it's funny how simple it is to satisfy a good customer with knowledge. I have a customer with a mid 80's 720 with a Z24. He came in one day to get plugs, wires, and dizzy cap/rotor. He was anally surprised that I could tell him so much about the motor. Then I pointed out I was a Datsun guy and he wasn't surprised. He's been chasing a misfire for months and hasn't had much time to work on it;. Replaced and cleaned most components on the engine except the ignition coil. I went out to his truck with my Wells book and multi-meter and checked the primary and secondary resistance on the coil to find that it was his problem. We went inside and he bought a new one, and we swapped it in the parking lot
  2. guess i'll insert a datsun related story here... Yesterday I was putting some brakes up on the shelf when I heard some guy ask for a "Datsun book." I walk out from the back disobeying my boss's orders to "get that fucking cage empty from truck" to poke in and insert my knowledge. We had a guy temping from another store who was helping. I walk up and the guys looking for a Haynes book for his 1994 Datsun 720. I was like wtf... I asked him if it was outside, because I figured he meant 1984. Well, he pointed outside to a frontier. I facepalmed and retreated to the back defeated by the ignorance..
  3. Get in the Zone! (Ghetto zone!) Is this where we tell everyone how we really feel?
  4. Probably won't. Upgrade to a weber!!

  6. damn indy, I refresh it INSTANTLY after hitting the button and your names already on the bottom  Off to more oics...
  7. Took these a few months back on my trip to South bend, Indiana and never posted them. Just rummaging though and thought you guys might like to see them.
  8. They never showed up? Was the gun legally registered?? Because if you reported to them that a gun was stolen and they never showed up to file a report, that's a big no-no on their end!!!
  9. I took up some slack on the pedal/push rod, and I decided that it must not have been releasing the clutch all the way with the pedal in
  10. Bump! Anyone else found anything cool lately? Totally going to get some pics with the camera in a few weeks
  11. Well, I had a prior Datsun employee that works at a shop across the street from my Autozone that had machined and repaired my head after a bolt broke off, crawl up under it and measure it to spec, and game me instructions on cleaning it off. Mentioned that it didn't seem to need any other attention and looks as if it was recently machined. I can only assume the PO had it done, since the clutch looks new'ish at the time I pulled the transmission. ollz, I knew you'd bring that up  To be honest, she impressed me! She was quick off the clutch, and didn't let it slip much at all. She's a quick learner and I'm proud of her I have a 10 minuet video of it. lol
  12. And another forgotten question, is the glazed clutch going to wear back in over time? Or am I pretty much screwed into pulling the transmission again?
  13. The flywheel was "machined" by hand using some heavy grit sandpaper, as I was instructed. No rear main leak that I've noticed. I can only guess it's adjustment related. I mean, there's always a chance that my driving like an ass is wearing it, but I've been driving as soft as possible the last few days and it's still progessivly worse. Sounds like I'm gonna spend some time on it tomorrow. I really would hate to drive it to work tomorrow, but I gotta do what I gotta do Thanks for the specs GG! EDIT: just to make sure I'm correct, on the pedal I should have 1-5mm before it starts to disengage, and the clutch slave should be about 2MM before it begins pressing out the clutch fork?
  14. Just noticed today, but it seems like form the day I put in the new clutch kit, it's been slowly feeling slipperier. Just got back from driving it, and the clutch feels just like the one I replaced a few weeks ago! The old one was glassed to hell and back, and had most of the material left on it. When I stopped at a light, I smelled what I can only assume is the clutch burning. My old clutch made it 10,000 + miles from the time I got the car, and was fine until after I replaced clutch slave and master, and after then it seems like the thing is just roasting clutch's. Prior to replacing the hydraulics, I used to be able to spin tires on command but now it's just sloppy. Can't even do it in the rain. I figured, maybe I'd just been hard on it and I'm hurting it, but the last few days I've been as easy as possible, and even pissing off people at lights with my easy slow launches and shifts. And tonight, it's just horrible. Anybody ever run into this?? PS: It's on my 210.
  15. Depends, are you gonna yell at me if I say yes? lol I kid. Welcome!
  16. Never saw this thread.. lol probably past this, but I'll put in my 2 cents anyways. I think theres absolutely nothing wrong with a chick working on a car. I met a girl some weeks ago at Napa that was talking to the guy at the counter about her 280Z problems. I jumped right in and offered a hand helping out. She never got on Ratsun I don't think, but it's still cool seeing chicks that aren't afraid to get down and dirty. Seriously though, you aren't a long haul from me over here in Cobb, so if you ever need a hand with your Datto, i'm just a PM away
