  1. Hey folks, looking for a known GOOD J13/15 engine for my 521. Mine is pretty wore out, will need a full rebuild.
  2. As every one else said, great turnout, great crowd, fun time!!! All the rest here : http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m217/5anddimer/5-21-11%20DatsLOCO%20Swap%20Meet%20And%20Car%20Show/?start=all
  3. DATSLOCO SWAP MEET CAR SHOW TOMORROW!!!!

  4. Should you bring your face? Same answer ;)
  5. pm me your cell # and ill text with an ETA. I would guess around 830 though
  6. Hondas (gag, i know) are running, what, 11:1??? 30+mpg easy. AND 200HP!!! Crazy whats possible with tech.
  7. Bah, L series engines provide their own music :P But ill still have my radio, ipod, and bass tube ;)
  8. Hang510, E85 isnt even available anywhere near here. ANd im glad. Your shootin for 20? mpg? Im doin Canby too this year, highway fuel mileage will be tested this weekend, goin to Ginos swap meet! And back on topic, oh the joys of carburetors :P
  9. Im just lookin to see if other people who have tuned webers for specific engines in the past may look at my jetting and say, WHOA, thats not right, or whatever. I dont have any jets to swap, just testing the 'waters'. Im actually in the middle of that right now, but dont worry, im going to be using a whole different dizzy anyway. THe one i have is a race dizzy. Theres no way to make the vac plate work, as that late model EI conversion pretty much jammed everything up tight. I have a nissan blackbox dizzy, with 11 degrees mech advance. Set initial at 21, +11, =32 degrees max. The vac has a 15 degree swing. As you said, trial and error, need to knock test, that adjust accordingly.
  10. Oh ok so its not 'mild' per se, but its definitely not a fire breather like those 2.3L L motors out there :P Installing a Pegasus bearing kit tonight, Ill come back with more info.
  11. Diff tranny ratios too, and are you getting full power to the coil?
  12. If you wanna join the Sac crew for breakfast, be here at 630am!! Shari's Restaraunt @ Florin Rd.
  13. Looking to see what the DGV gurus of Ratsun have to say about my carbs jetting. To say the least, the jets seem...extreme...for such a mild street engine... I have a recently built L19 , its an L18 block, L16 rods, and Z22S pistons, with a closed chamber A87 head with port work and a valve job by Rebello Racing. It cc'd at 1858cc's with a CR of 10.1:1. Cam is a Cal Cams 27-D, beyond that, i know nothing about it except its a bit angry under 2k and has a lumpy idle. Induction is a weber DGV 5A on an L16 manifold. Jets are: (primary/secondary) Idle 50/50 E-Tube: F50/F6 AIr Corrector: 160/190 Mains: 160/220 It starts ok, runs well, but im getting atrocious gas mileage, despite correcting ignition issues. Also, you can smell that its quite rich. I know locals with 44 mikunis getting better in town mileage :/ Whats 'normal' jetting for an L18/20B?
  14. Why is everyone so obsessed with rattle canning their cars black???
  15. They run tight because they dont expand with heat as much as exhaust valves do. Hence the bigger clearances for them. WHat 'feel' did you use for adjusting them? Did the gauge slide in and out with no friction? slight catch? have to force it in? LOL this souns awful, but i cant think of a better way to describe it.
  16. Some tachs need to be set to 4 cyl mode, usually a switch inside the tach, make sure your switched power and ground are functioning. My autometer worked fine on the KA
  17. And did you adjust cold or hot? Cold = sitting overnight.
  18. Your valve seats are receding. My L20B was junked because of that. If it happens again on your next valve adj, you need a valve job. Crate engine you say? From where? Ebay?
  19. A very sad day in Placerville, 17yo near death after playing in the rain with his Z car...slow it down in the wet people!!! http://www.mtdemocrat.com/breaking-news/teen-dies-in-tuesday-collision/comment-page-1/#comment-51622

I forgot that last time i installed this dizzy i needed to 'retime' the dizzy driveshaft. Pedestal is from the same kind of dizzy. Im thinking the late L20B's and early small L motors had different dizzy drive 'clocking'

  21. Double post gonna get noticed in the WRONG way ;)
  22. He will get great mileage too if he tunes that DGV right! I need to get my ignition sorted before i even think of rejetting... NEED MORE ADVANCE SOONER

    Canby 2011

In better news, gas prices...dropped?!... From 4.49 for 91 to 4.38. WOW. Now if only i could solve why my dime gets 14mpg...
