  1. correct like Hainz said since KYB does not make a front insert for a 510 use the Zx one and use a nut to put inside the strut housing to make up the space/gap. I personally would go get the zx front strut and brake assembly and get either KYB or tokicos. just save up and do it right. you will like the upgraded brakes. also checking on prices there is not a huge price difference brand new from KYB and tokico. one thing about tokico I have heard is the shocks are better made and are more consistent on a shock dyno but in any regard they either will blow away old stock worn out units
  2. if you need Tokico's let me know. I think I sent you a rough quote for inserts for front and rear shocks. I can get the camaro rears also. if you want KYB I can get that also but price is not much more cheaper or at all. the front inserts are same for stock 510 and Zx strut housing part # wise. you may have to use spacers inside the strut housing but that is common practice with a lot of companies.
  3. great looking piece. 200.00 is a bit high for some but I bet some people may go for it. if the price could come down some it may get a lot of response.

    Bushings

or access to a press as some if not most bushings need to pressed in and out.
  5. how close are you to rubbing. for me I got some ssr wheels and they hit the calipers but I ended up using my rotary grinder and just shaved a bit off the calipers and it cleared my wheels. if your wheels are rubbing so slightly maybe you can do the same
  6. this would make a cool sticker or bumper sticker or T shirt

    lowering a 510

for the front I would totally recommend getting the zx struts and brakes and you can either put new shocks and go coil overs or if you want even better ride get the mr2 inserts and cut the housings to fit them and then install the coil overs. I would also recommend changing bushings and steering parts if your parts are old or worn out. as for the back you can do the D50 spring mod or go coilovers also from like ground conrol or ermish racing or technotoy. I see you live in the bay area as I do also and going the extra bit and using the MR2 inserts for more travel would be nice considering you want to go at least 2" of lowering and also since the roads up here are horrible.
  9. try contacting riley at lynchburg nissan he may have some still or should be able to get more
  10. they are different as the 510 used 38mm su's and the Z used 46mm su's. you should contact steve epperly at Z therapy as he is supposed to be god when it comes to SU's. would the Z su's run a l18 sure but probably not good unless the motor has some mods that warrant using a big intake system
  11. I used the 620 heater valve and disected it like on juliecoop turorial and when i put back together I used a little vaseline on the o rings and then i made sure I bent the tabs back securely and then put back together and tested it by running water into the core and capping off the ends and letting sit for a while to look for leaks that way I would not waste my time when putting back in. I would just take back out and rebuild again. make sure you clean the copper well as pits or debris or out of roundness can make for bad sealing. I have looked for new valves for a long time and could never find them not even when i go to japan. datsun used many different style for heater control valves.
  12. I was thinking that same thing also. I don't even think 38mm su's will run it well but better than the 32/36. I would consider either Z su's or dual sides like mikuni or weber

    Choke Cable

I am heading to japan at the end of march to early april so if you are looking for a new one I think my source out there has one for about 140.00 if you are interested. I can ask if he has a used one also. This is for dual 38mm su's? sent you a PM also
  14. had this same thing happen to me on my 240Z it blew the muffler off the pipe. ended up my coil wire came loose and cause a backfire. check the ignition items.

    New 510 Wagon

wow both cars are very clean and AC is nice to have and working also. enjoy them
  16. yeah please let us know if it works or even fits well as I swore I bought some of their basic 5 3/4" headlights for my wagon and they did not fit the light buckets but it was a while ago so maybe they worked out the kinks and they did refund my money
  17. not a big fan but it is clean and I know those ride very comfortably. you can now do the mod to run on oil from like burger joints or restaurants. I see that sometimes here in the bay area. a lot of the young hipster or even some surfer guys once did one with a rack for their surf boards.
  18. I am going to speak on my opinion or what I see and may get some flack from some but here goes. my first car when I was 16 was a 240Z. I did mods to it with what money I made but never could afford or knew much about JDM parts but most of what was in japan was here at the time for the Z's. when I got my 86 civic I knew of all the jdm stuff in the 90's but never bought much of it as it was expensive and hard to get but did like it as the parts were used in good form. did not look or seem all out of place like how things are being used now. Even when I worked on Hondas I liked those cars a lot and liked a lot of the JDM parts and mainly wheels but did not go nuts with everything JDM. what got me out of hondas was the negative youth mentality associated with the cars and the groups associated with them. I got back into datsuns years ago and picked up my wagon and I enjoy it a lot and really enjoy the driving aspect of the car but now I see a lot of younger guys getting into datsuns or old school imports which is cool but they are approaching the mods like how they approach hondas. I see a lot of posts on here and the realm with items like carbon fiber everything or how low can I go or how much hp can a particular motor make. I get worried the honda crowd which is usually associated with a bad reputation will make the old school import crowd or scene a bit tainted. I love my old school import but don't want to get lumped in with people thinking my car has a loud obnoxious muffler or super low road scrapers or with lights all over in and out. I really like seeing tastefully modded old school imports JDM parts or not or cars done well and not so in your face. I guess it is a free world and to each is their own but please try to keep these great old school imports alive and not modding or butchering them to death.
  19. started it up and drove it around for a while to get the juices flowing
  20. JDM parts are nice but they are just like parts in the usa you have to use them or install them with taste. seems like people are just buying or slapping on things just to be all in your face or to prove a point. sometimes a bit overdone but I guess to each is their own.
  21. great looking 411. good job on polishing it up. love the black and yellow plates and the mooneyes sticker.
  22. I have seen him backdraft as the coroner and a episode of seinfeld sitting in the back of a cop car when jerry and george go to LA to find Kramer and tango and cash as stallone's cell mate.
  23. yep jdm stuff is pretty sweet or they really put a lot of work to make their cars clean but also they cannot have cars in bad condition over there unlike the USA. I love going to japan and seeing all the cool jdm stuff. I always try to bring back what I can from there but lugging stuff can be a pain at times

    Caster Issues

have you checked the lower control arms for if they are tweaked? also did you put back the strut housings back in the way they came out?
  25. I have a addco bar on my wagon and if you want to see pics you can see them on my flickr page under benzo510 or myspace under garagelife. I may have some pics on my profile on here. the bar and d brackets mount the axle and the end links mount to the body. you will have to drill some holes on the chassis to mount the hardware. was not hard but took time as I had to align everything before I tightened down and also as I did by myself. if you have a friend to just help hold stuff it makes it easier. the bar does work and you will notice less body roll even with stock leaf springs. wagons can certainly use a pan hard bar though
