  1. Cars or working on cars can be a literal headache! Guess I don't work on cars as much as I used to, so I've developed vertigo or headaches when I lie wrong or in a bad position. Installing the half shafts and widdling on the nuts was starting to trigger my headaches so would have to take breaks but lucky my brother would switch off with me and we got it done. Mounted a Longchamp wheel to get a view of my vision and it's looking just how I thought just gotta remove the flare/over fender. Mounted the front brake rotors to the hubs then mounted the G machine camber bushing with the knuckles and ball joints to the control arms and mated it all to the chassis and strut housings. Added the bushings to the T/C rods and mounted those as well. Had to stop here as waiting for some parts and have to order more parts but hoping on next workday we can mount the sway bars, steering rack and shaft and the brake calipers and lines. Getting closer to putting on the ground and road worthy so we can drive to the body shop. The parts disappearing from the floor and storage is a satisfying feeling!
  2. Got a couple of hours to work on the Z. My brother was able to powder coat the front hubs and get the half shafts ready for install. We slipped up the other day by not putting the bump stops on so pulled the rear back out really quick to get those installed and then installed the driveshaft and started installing the half shafts and the bushings for the control arms. Had to stop as my brother forgot we need to order new bolts and nuts for the half shafts as he cut off the old ones as they were rusted. We migrated to working on the front suspension. Installed new race and bearings/grease/seals for the hubs and then installed the struts and coil overs. Had to stop as I had a meeting to attend so hoping tomorrow can install the front suspension parts along with the steering rack.
  3. It's been a few months so glad to be starting off the new year working on the Z. My Brother and my nephew got the differential mounted back in the car. The suspension parts got either powder coated or painted and then me and my brother packed and pressed in new bearings and seals for the rear hubs. Went together pretty smooth. We also installed the struts and coilovers and for now hung the assemblies onto the strut towers. Had to take a break but hoping in the next few days we can continue again and get the lower control arms mounted up to the chassis as well the driveshaft, half shafts and mount the disc brake assembly and brake lines.
  4. This topic was resurrected but I never updated on what I ended up using so here is what I did end up getting/using. I've had these now for a little over a couple of years and holding up well and easy to vacuum. I still haven't made a rear cargo area piece but that is on my list to do hopefully soon.
  5. Hi Everyone I was sent this RockAuto Discount code and wanted to share. Hope it comes in handy for some of you.
  6. @mojojojo78 Oh man thanks for the feedback! This is what I was looking for. No mods needed? I know some say to modify the buckets or the housings need a bit of grinding to fit the indent on the buckets like how the stock lights have a raised area if you know what I am talking about? Did you need a relay or was it plug and play to the stock harness/plugs?
  7. @fiveoneO Yeah I seen those and wouldn't mind having them just the price was high or out of my budget at the time. Review wise I read good things about them. @ggzilla Yep I am seeing a lot online just hard for me to choose. I am mainly looking for stock looking and fitting housing or not wanting to modify the housings. I did read from a previous post about the lumens not being as advertised. Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at this kit as it looks pretty good and affordable just want to check if I have to modify the housing to fit my buckets 5-3/4 Stock H4 Halogen Light Bulb Headlight Super White 55/60W Headlamp Set Of 4
  8. Been driving the wagon more and also at night or early morning. Haven't driven at night in so long the headlight probably had a heart attack and konked out! I don't even remember ever replacing this headlight for the time I've owned the car (almost 25 years). Went to O' Reilly's to look for a headlight and didn't see it on the shelf but the counter person asked if I needed assistance, so I told him the make and model of car, and he looks in the computer and says that light on the shelf is the part. I said no it's too big. This one is a 7" I need a 5 3/4". I ask him if he had any in back. He says sorry no. I leave and go to another O'Reilly's and look and see only the 7" headlight and I ask that counter person to check in back and they look and pulls out the one I needed. I told them I went to another store, and they looked, and they said the computer shows that store has it in stock. They said that person there was probably being lazy to look. No surprise there. Glad the lights are working but I am looking at some Hella, Cibie, Marchal or any OEM looking/fitting H4 conversions if I can find a good price.
  9. Been quiet lately working on the Z due to work and life. My intent was to media blast the rear diff cover and polish it but second thoughts I had my brother powder coat it. Keeping it low maintenance and simple looking. The fill plug was rounded out so had to weld on a bolt head to be able to spin it off so going to replace with a new one. Driveshaft had a lot of surface rust so sanded it down and used a wire brush and Emery paper to smooth it out and took off any high spots before cleaning it off and using my bike repair stand to hold it up so I can mask some portions and prime and paint. Used some high heat primer and paint and luckily had some good weather that it all went on smooth and stuck. Let it cure and then added some clear coat. Waiting for my brother to get back from a trip and can put back in the car so the suspension can be put back in and hopefully move the car to the body shop/space.
  10. Life and schedule change so I've been driving the wagon more which is good and bad but used it to pick up the kids from school. Definitely made kids and parents heads turn. Been waiting to do this for a long time!
  11. One of the front strut assemblies completed media blasting and powder coating. Stoked on the outcome! Hopefully can finish the remaining three and replace the wheel bearings in the next week.
  12. An update to keep this alive and relevant for searches Was able to section and weld up the housing to accommodate the 87-89 MR2 rear inserts to use in the front and the front Z struts to use in the rear. The Ground Control coil overs are mocked up and just waiting to get time to media blast and powder coat before final assembly and install into the car. For anyone doing this for a Z and use Ground Control or T3 8-9 or 10" long springs are to be used. Do not use 12" you will have no space and no adjustability. I am using 10" but the 9" would be a good set to use. I believe they make barrel shaped springs which are nice to keep as much distance away from the threaded sleeves.
  13. Made progress on the coilovers for the Z. Momentary hiccup with incorrect parts from Ground Control so while that was being sorted measured and marked off and sectioned the strut housings to accomodate the shorter struts (87-89 MR2 rear for the front and moving the Z fronts to the rear). My brothers been doing the welding as it's a part of a course he is taking at the local community college, and he is getting better and better! All the correct parts arrived and mocked up and good to go. Have to wait for another round of time and can media blast and powder coat all the suspension parts before assembly and reinstall to get the car rolling. Definitely looking forward to driving the car to get the feels!
  14. @ggzilla Good info. Thank you!
