  1. @Montzzz Believe it is Oct. 5th
  2. @demo243 oh man same here! Seen it happen and don't want to be in that situation.
  3. Yeah as much as I like anti seize I don't use them for everything or only when required. From reading your past posts seems the main issue was using an impact gun to tighten the lug nuts which you have moved to using a torque wrench to do the final lockdown which is good practice. The one pic of the stud broken at the base of the threads usually tells me that stud or bolt had stretch or had been stretched from the past and finally let go. Good on you to use the ARP's as those are strong and all about safety. 👍
  4. I've reached the point when people ask me advice when looking or buying an older car with a metal tank to tell them to check and to flush the tank as one of the first things to do.
  5. @demo243 not sure if this matters but there is a Dorman part # 610-320 that is supposed to be a longer stud that can work for Z's and 510's at an affordable price. I was going to use these on my ZX Hubs for the 510
  6. @demo243 Yeah I know that feeling. I get frustrated but it is fun at times or get super pumped when a good result comes from the work. Todd was helpful. For me Dave Rebello helped a lot and Taka from KyushaHouse and of course some Ratsun info from previous posts. It is cool to see how the car and moto folks intertwine at times. I have considered contacting Zcar garage to do a dyno tune session but for now the car is running ok but adding the AFR guage could be a huge help for me. Look forward to seeing updates.
  7. @demo243 Good on you for sorting this out and sharing. I have been keeping up with the updates as carb related issues or tuning is always interesting. Was curious about the idle hanging issues as I had something similar but mine was a vacuum leak and not mechanical like your situation. The pilot system is or plays a huge roll for idle and drivability issues. My issues was I had suspected something ( rusty tank) got into my pilot jets and caused issues but after cleaning out and syncing the carbs and then adjusting the pilot screws for each cylinder I was able to make the engine run good at idle and cruising. For my situation # 4 plug fouled so for most times people say turn the idle mixture screw out 1 1/2 turns out and should be good but for me cylinders #1-3 1 1/2 turns was ok but #4 I did 1 1/4 turns and that kept # 4 plug from fouling resulting in a good idle and drivability. I don't have a AFR guage so just doing it by reading plugs and listening and feeling but I should get a guage as that would make it easier for tuning. That Mikuni Manual also is a good read and lot if info for troubleshooting.
  8. @Legoman27 Thanks for the link to your project page. Will keep an eye on it.
  9. The wagon's been driving fine or normal so been really enjoying driving it more and actually doing grocery getter duties. Still have to replace the fuel tank sending unit but that will happen soon. As much as I like seeing people post on projects or repairs and upgrades I really get stoked seeing others enjoy their work and get out and drive.
  10. @Legoman27 Sweet! Glad you got it running and made it out an event. Look forward to seeing an update post carburetor swap out.
  11. @RLJ Thanks for that info. Looking at Amazon now to locate that hosing.
  12. @Legoman27 Makes sense. Well hope you get to drive it soon and have good results. Look forward to reading an update.
  13. @Legoman27 Looks good. Have you gotten to drive it? If so notice anything different? I ask as since the pickup tube had blockage and now clear is there any driveability differences.
  14. @Legoman27 Got it. There is that inspection door on the floor so if that opening is big enough or made big enough to replace the sending unit in the future with the tank in the car then that could be an option. If the 720 sender is close or just needs a minor mod to make it work then all good. Hoping it works.
  15. @Legoman27 Yeah it is like that for me where I live. Not too many datsun guys near me or would have to drive a bit to get to each other then there's life that gets in the way. Looking good! Thanks for sharing your progress. Did or are you replacing the sending unit as well? I bought one for a Z and a sedan but waiting to do the tank refresh to see which one I decide to use. Hoping no hiccups in regards to the filler hose.
  16. @Legoman27 Hell Yeah! Glad it worked out. Look forward to seeing posts on your tank refresh as not a lot on them. Wish you were near me as i want to do mine and could always use a hand.
  17. Here's another scammer account kaylamillard27 0 Started conversation: 12 hours ago Hello, are you still looking? you can get in touch with Gabriel on gabrielkings@myyahoo.com if still available for sale .
  18. This is most likely another scammer that reached out to me kaylamillard27 0 Started conversation: 12 hours ago Hello, are you still looking? you can get in touch with Gabriel on gabrielkings@myyahoo.com if still available for sale .
  19. I may be at this point soon for my wagon. I saw a post once believe on YT that someone doing a Z tank used some bike brake cable to push through the pickup tube and used a drill to spin it to act as a snake and clean out the tube.
  20. The response from this seller sounds like a DICK! Remembered they tried following me and I just removed them. They're a scammer account. If you look at their account they started in 2023 and based out of Cameroon. What's lame is I know someone who follows them. I wouldn't waste my time or even want any affiliation with clowns like this. Making me question that person that follows them. Should report them to have their account removed. All I see now is a bunch of people trying to jump on the vintage car market and try to promote community but only seek to gouge people on prices for parts or boost their page or content and then there are the scammers trying to get somebody.
  21. @edekalil Thanks for the info/feedback.
  22. picked up a sending unit for a sedan and a Z so will look at getting this all done hopefully soon and will update.
  23. @datzenmike That probably can happen. Figure if I end up dropping the tank might as well replace the sender since it isn't took expensive and logic tells me to do it since it will be apart.
  24. @datzenmike Thanks Mike! Unfortunately I can't back the car out into an open area. If I am going to do it at home was going to open all the doors and windows and run a fan as well as shut off any electrical in the area. Thanks for the feedback about using a heat gun to soften up the hoses to help removing them to minimize any damage to the hose outlets on the tank. Definitely will label and take pics and measurements. As to the fuel level sender it seems to be not measuring accurately. If I put in say 8 gallons of gas it only goes to maybe halfway or near or past half tank. I jumped the wires and the guage works. Lends me to think the sender is bad given it is pretty old or in my time of ownership it has never been replaced and it has been over 20 years and from the look of the debris around the area that it may have never been replaced.
  25. Hi Everyone. Looking for some feedback from those who have done this. I see on my wagon an inspection door for the fuel level sending unit but looks like it may not have enough room to remove it from that inspection door. Have any of you replaced it from this inspection door? Second question is wagon fuel level sending units aren't available anymore and I read to use a sedan one but will need some bending to match the wagon model but have any of you used a 240Z unit for a wagon? Third question is I was looking to drop the tank to get it cleaned of any corrosion and coated. To me looks straight forward in terms of drain the tank from the drain plug and then loosen up the fuel filler hose and any lines connected to the tank ( vapor tank and feed/return lines) but are there any tricks or tips to make for an easy removal and reinstall I should look for? One of my concerns is of course safety and have to make sure the garage is ventilated well and store the gas in safe storage containers. Thank you!
