  1. If you have any datsun parts plese just post them here. Not only is it a pain to use Facebook but the page is unorganized and hard to search.
  2. Man too bad you're on the wrong side of the country. I'd love to get that VG30 for that price! Them headers are hawt. GLWS
  3. Going to Virginia in the morning. My running and driving datsun gets to sit and look pretty for about 6 weeks. Coming back with a stack of cash.

  4. What do you mean by best way to build? Trying to get more horsepower? Faster launch? Higher top speed? 120 hp is realistic without getting into cams, pistons, etc. Forced induction can get you pretty high up there. This seems to do the job for most- Dual sidedrafts Electronic ignition Quality cap, wires, plugs. Proper fluids and fluid levels. Ram air Drive it like an expensive whore tha you only have 15 minutes with. Don't expect an absurd amount of power. Some people get a datto and are all like "Dis shiz too slow I wanna go faster. I can't keep up with my friends" Keep in mind that it is a 40 year old car that in it's prime was a slick, quick, sexy machine. It is a dinosaur compared to your average 90's sedan. Now don't get me wrong, they scoot pretty good. A skilled driver in a 510 sedan can smoke a dumb kid in a 250hp civic. Ther'e no processor running the engine. No electronic sensors deciding what to do and when. Just a person in the driver seat. Drive it and see. You become one with the Datsun. There is nothing between you and the road besides tires. Make those tires do exactly what you want them too. As you drive, you become more in tune to with your car. You will learn it's capabilities, it's limits, and how to push it to those limits. Many of those limits can be surpassed with simple adjustments and modifications. Any datsun can be a race winner on a very low budget. And thousands of them were and still are. The way Datsuns die, besides maliciousness and random occurences, is OVERHEATING THE ENGINE. But even then they tend to still run on 2 or 3 cylinders. Keep that in mind and regulary maintain the cooling system. Maintain proper coolant level. Inspect your radiator. Test your thermostat. Get a good temp gauge and use it in conjunction with the factory one. Now pics or get the fuck out.
  5. They don't look that bad. Since they're rotting from the interior side they sill be easier to patch.

  8. I don't think my temp gauge works. It only goes to about the first line. I remember my other datto sitting in the middle. I took a meat thermometer and stuck it in the top of the rad and it read 160° F after sitting at Idle for a whole. 165°F after a hard drive.

Your thermostat should open up at 180-190(depending on which rating of thermostat you have). Sounds like you may need a new one.

Mines Doing Literally the Same thing, didnt know if it was normal or not cause its my first Datsun, been driving it alot the last few days and it hasnt gone anything above the first line. Guess i should do the whole Thermometer in my radiator too to be safe lol. got plenty at Work.

  9. He forgot the backout kit.
  10. Nadie estaba insultando. Cuidado con lo que dices. Usted está siendo innecesariamente ofensivo y no le ayudará a vender sus espejos.
  11. Blueridge SC Area. My radiator is so corroded that it is blowing pinholes all over the place from the pressure. I am looking to even trade a 4 speed from L20b and 2 piece driveshaft for a good working radiator. The 4 speed has no problems that I know of. I will also consider trading a 620 windshield for rad but would expect something on top like cash or some foglights or something. Maybe a stereo head or CB. Edit: Also have several sets of wheels and tires. Will trade a set for Radiator. Will have cash in next few weeks but really need to trade now. Going to Virginia for work.
  12. Good try! You got the tool now.
  13. At first I was blowing fire through the carb. I adjusted the distributor and it runs better than it ever has! Got it up to 70 in third coming from the store. Blew another hole in the radiator. It's so corroded that it's too thin to hold pressure. So looking for a rad east coast.

loosen the radiator cap so it don't build up any pressure till you find another radiator.

  14. Hence most the things I own are twice as old as me. Those bolts are tough. I almost broke my grandfathers breaker bar  It stretched out a bit and one of the pins went flying across the shop. I never knew the man, his tools are all I have.
  15. Couldn't get the truck to start. Pulled the breather off and turned it over. Sprayed gas all over the hood *rofl* Turns out we had thhe engine at TDC for #2 haha. No biggy. tore it down, turned it halfway from TDC and turned the cam through. Returned it to TDC and did the chain. It all looks good! Went ahead and pulled the broken timing cover bolts. Time to put it all back together and fire it up!

  16. Not sure what mine is but my Dad bought it in 75' and It still works great.
  17. What the shit?!?! It's 4 am. I'm going to bed! Tomorrow is here. Gotta go get my battery and install my rad then I'mma drive the shit out of my truck!

  18. Maybe find some on the west coast and be prepared for shipping charges. There are a couple Hawaii members. I will try to find them. They may know where you could find some.
  19. Advance, Napa, Autozone, O'Reillys Whoever is convenient. ~10$ Snapped allen wrench? Reverse bit and/or backout bit set. these are all things you should have in a datto tool kit :poke: I've never removed and replaced stuff on a datsun without breaking something. Factory hardware is pretty weak. I'm really good at removing broken bolts now. I just did my head. They're in there real good at 60lbs. I actually broke a 3/8ths extension off in my 10mm hex socket
  20. Positive. You're cheapo allen wrenches gave out before you broke that 60lb bolt loose. 10mm hex head socket. Well positive enough.
  21. They're not stuck. You're doing it wrong :poke: http://www.tooltopia.com/gearwrench-80660.aspx?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=KDT80660&utm_campaign=googlebase_18u&gclid=CPjylLqh2rICFQsGnQodMQIAnw Heck you can get one at Advance.
  22. Great prices! I'd get a 510 radiator and adapt it. 100$ less than 620.
  23. Dat Lurka

    wifes 620

Heh, I wanna do a rising sun on my block  I'm thinking of replacing my inspection plate with acrylic. Then it will be an observation plate.
