  1. not very thick at all, not really sure how to gauge how thick it is.... but the reason I laid down the black epoxy first was so coverage didn't have to be as thick
  2. guess it depends on your idea of short vs long term, there going on a year and a half now and still holding up fine, not saying they won't break down, just throwing it outr there
  3. Normal intercooler pipe couplers will fit right over the r1 carbs, i cut them in half, and then actually used intercooler pipe off each carb to the plenum when i did it.
  4. Second update: the car. Just this last week i finally got it undercoated. Laid down some black epoxy, and then used a defender pro bedliner kit. looks really good. The taillight panel is done, Other then that, not much to update, im going to start working on rebuilding the suspension and brakes. while im waiting for the paint booth to get finished.
  5. Havent updated in awhile. First update, paint booth. We went up to Canada spent a whole weekend tearing the thing apart and loading it up, what a bitch it ended up taking two trips since the heater alone took up 3/4s of the trailer. That was almost 4 weeks ago now, Since then ive been spending every weekend over at his shop rebuilding it all nice and purdy. Its coming along pretty good, although i dont have any pics of it yet, he should be ready to spray in a few weeks. (hopefully)
  6. Lookin good! Its cool to see the setup live on in another car
  7. i ran a stock l series pump and it worked great
  8. Thanks! must have not looked hard enough because i looked at both those places.
  9. Anyone know where to find the quarter window seals for the rear doors? i dont know if im searching the wrong thing or what, but i cant seem to find them at all the major datsun sites
  10. Very curious to see what you do with the rear! Its gunna look sweet
  11. Small update for today. Im calling the engine bay done, at least until its sprayed again and i can see how it looks. Wasnt going for perfectly smooth and shaved, just filling some spots here and there where i welded up holes. Also seam sealed all the major body seams inside and out. Im waiting on my dad to get home so hopefully we can finish glassing in the panel.
  12. Just a ka24de, will eventually boost it, and long term I want a another turbo l motor but built better then the last one
  13. Had to build a quick down and dirty car to get the car lower and mobile. Started working the engine bay yesterday and today, hopefully have that done tomorrow and start seam sealing the bottom of the car. Alec the painter stopped by and he wants to have the body work done and have it primed by the end of the weekend, seems ambitious to me, but it would be pretty sweet.
  14. Yeah that kinda helps, looks like something is bent, my guess is the core support brace, i gotta grab the grill and trim pieces and see if i can figure it out.
  15. quick question, the front valence has a mounting point on the top center. It goes to the core support brace in front of the radiater. My question, is that valence supposed to sit flat on that brace or is there some sort of spacer that goes in there. Im almost 3/4" away from it and if its supposed to be flush.... somethings really bent out of whack
  16. Day one complete, the pictures don't do the amount of work we actually did justice but, the fucked up rear quarters are all straight, all the dents have been pulled, all the panels are all aligned for the most part (took for fucking ever), the fenders and some other rust prone areas have been POR 15'ed, and tons of holes were filled and smoothed out. We finished the fit on the tail light panel and first thing tomorrow morning it will be sealed in place (didnt have the right seal to do it today). Still have some work to do with the front valence and how its fitting, its pretty tweaked, and a couple dents in the hood then off to filler.
  17. Of course, the510keeper got the whole trunk and quarters, Jrock got the passenger frame rail (not sure if he was able to make it work) Sixteyninedimes getting the rockers, I used one of the floor pans. A guys coming sunday for the rear arches. if anyone needs a roof, passenger rear floor (rust free) or rear seat pan area or any other sheet metal bits that might be saveable shoot me a message.
  18. The guy who came to look at my car last Sunday is getting started Saturday. Or rather WE are getting started Saturday. He hit me up shortly after he left and asked if i was interested in trading his time for my time. He needs help moving a paint booth up in Vancouver BC in a couple weeks and i told him i was in. So hes gonna come over and we are going to do most of the work here and move it over to his booth once its ready for paint. So stay tuned for updates! hopefully by Sunday we have something substantial done...
  19. I apologize for not sifting through 19 pages to find the answer to this question that has probally been asked. But, Second weekend of june... Since the first is on a sunday (technically the first weekend??) Is this the 7th and 8th Or the 14th and 15th?
  20. Brought out the old car to get some parts off it. and started stripping paint.
  21. Yeah that was everything, Seam sealer, under coat, all the body work, and paint, he was quoting me off what he currently saw, I'm gunna keep working and get a couple dents pulled, get it under coated and seam sealed, and get the rest of the panels stripped and hung. see if I can't drop that number into more like 3000$ which I could come up with
  22. Annnddddd the first quote came in at 4 grand.... ouch
  23. Sold the e30, And i have a few people coming to look at the 510 for paint and body work. Keep your fingers crossed i can find someone who can do decent work for a reasonable price.
  24. Yeah i think im rushin it a bit.. I dont really have much else to work on until its painted, i mean theres always stuff to do but im kinda one track minded. Meybe start fixin up the KA Im trying to sell the e30, then i can just pay someone to do it, itll turn out better in the end that way anyways.
