  1. finally got this motor the rest of the way in... took me three days instead one! its werid... its so quiet with a full exhaust and no turbo... but it seems to be running good (from my test drive around the block).. now the qeustion is what do i focus my time energy and money on? im done messing with motors for awhile, thinking about a bushing kit, possibly some rust repair? new wheels are in my plans of things to accomplish.. if i start rust/body panel work, i want to redo my hole trunk area, build a different tire well tht will fit my battery, air tank, compresser and valves... so many options, i think im gunna make a list. edit, a lot of my money is going to start going towards the z as well, i started work on that again, who knows meybe someday itll be driveable again!

Picked up another l20b lastnight. spent a little time cleaning it up today and taking it apart, unfortuenatly i wont be able to pull my motor and put it in for a few days becuase my dad has a few boats in the shop that cant get wet until there done. Supposedly the motor is all origanal out of a 1980 truck with 80k on it... i find it hard to believe but i guess ill take his word for it! Ive also been slowly piecing together an interior for the bmw, and did my first ever rollcage work on a jeep

  8. this builds been pretty dead lately... i do got a lil news tho! hopefully picking up a complete motor saturday, get that in there and running good again becuase this 8mpg v8 thing is not workin for me! (even though it is very fun to drive) im going to keep it na, keep it reliable, stop worrying about motors for awhile and fix some body damage, thats my plan at least. and i have a swap thats in the works for this summer. i wanna say it hasnt been done... but im not sayin what quite yet :) Also... despite what most people here will say and think, my plans at this point in time are to find a nice set of 15x9 and 15x8s.....jrock... if you still want some drags i might have some for sale here in a few months ;)
  9. while i understand going with a tire like that (kinda) i bet you wont be able to put any of that power your gunna be makin to the ground! i love the wheels though, and the fitment

  12. i havent messed with kawi keihin specifically, but keihin carbs were all i ran on my 2-stroke quads, (probally some differences and similarities) and they were very simple, easy to tune etc

  15. Looking for either an l16 or l20 in decent shape for cheap to stick in my car for the rest of the winter while i re build my current motor low comp the right way this time. Just need a rotating assembly and a good head.... let me know if you have anything! prefer something somewhat local (washington, northern oregon, vancouver bc) Thanks

Its true, if your going bike carbs cause they look cool....well... anyone who knows anything about datsuns will think fuel injection is just as cool, and while i have no idea the qaulity of work your capable of, again 72240z is right, its really easy to hack together a carb setup (just look at my car closely lol) and... cold starts with these carbs sucks, terriable, full choke and gotta let it warm up for like 4 min before you can even move it... if this is for a dd i would re consider efi, but at the same time if your set on the carbs it works just fine. another thing to consider, i dont know jack about the napz motor your using, but if its anything like my l20... stock l motors dont last long with boost, the cast pistons break, valve guides and seals go pretty quick and if your gunna do it, do it right, low comp, rebuilt head, good pistons etc just my opinions
  18. Lol For the record when I do it again megasquirt is in my plans, after talking to icehouse a few times he's got me pretty convinced but for now the r1 turbo setup works just fine, and really is pretty easy to tune
  19. im running a 1.6 jet on my l20, as long as your pitot tube is sized right you can ALMOST just tune it na and hook it all up, some other things to think about that have already been somewhat disscussed, the plastic t's are junk, you will have to make you own metal ones like i did, and i have heard that the caps on the carbs will only hold 10 pounds, so if you were planning on more, might wanna look for billet caps and as far as never running a reg, i never bothered cause i rarely ever hit fuel cut. i could pull 4 gears up to 90 before id hit fuel cut, and ive never needed to pull for any longer then that
