  1. Twenty!??? You've obviously been very very good to someone!
  2. Mike, I've got my trim pieces too. Advantages of hot glue over silicone? Better for vibration?
  3. Two Z's last registered in NH 10 years ago, no titles, prices are not firm. A tan 76 Z and a black 80 Z located in Joshua Tree, CA Seller claims they both belonged to an old western movie actor who died. http://palmsprings.craigslist.org/cto/4242906206.html
  4. If anybody's going to that yard in Tracy I'd pay you to pull a few small things from one of those 200 SX's.

  6. I confirmed with local Nissan dealer and Nissanpartszone.com shift boot # 74963-P2010 is no more, disco, discontinued, zilch, nada. Off to the Eagle rock swap Sunday meet for me. If I can't find something to cover it or something that fits, I figure I might just make a round sheetmetal plate to cover the oval hole and possibly use a 620 round boot?
  7. Don't hold out on me brother!... what model did you buy one for? :w00t:
  8. I've been trying a number of solutions. I've already tried my local Nissan dealer chick (who is really good) and Nissan parts zone for a shift boot for my 80 200SX and they both said "disco". Like they say, "disco sucks!" The ones currently on Ebay are not orig to a 1980, they're either earlier or later. Tried a round Mr. Gasket after-market and it split within a week. Currently I'm trying to find a larger square based Mr. Gasket or Hurst boot with a round hole for the shift lever that I can screw/silicone to the top of the tunnel. So far no find. May be hitting the Eagle Rock swap meet this weekend, &/or the yards for an alternate application.
  9. Anyone have a source/fix for a 1980 200sx rubber shifter boot that goes under the decorative leather boot? I've got pieces of one to match up. The inside of my new old car. Reeks of burning oil, even when it's cold. Took the console out and put it in my garage...now my garage smells like burning oil. Solved the source of the burning oil...valve cover gasket. Have yet to solve the wind and odor issue coming thru the hole. The whole interior will need cleaning.Tried a round aftermarket Mr. Gasket boot but it split in no time because it was too short and the boot pulled the trans out of gear on deacceleration.
  10. When I got my 79 620 most everything kinda-worked, but poorly and when it wanted. The ghost logic of when and why it worked was crazy like yours. I had already cleaned the battery terminals at the battery as the cables looked good. Next I was working my way thru cleaning all the little individual problem component connections with little success. When I was good and frustrated...I got a "real charge" to find the battery connection at the block was actually tight, but had an oil leak dirty grease build-up over a russsstty connection. The pigtail to body connection was just as crappy. After cleaning just these two points along with the starter connections the majority of of electrical stuff worked like new and the engine ran way better. The real electrical problems were much easier to problem solve after. To me it isn't a process of elimination. I prefer looking at it as establishing a strong power and ground circuit base to begin with before working on the outlaying smaller amp and ohm drawing circuits. Hope this helps? (Now all I have to figure out is why they ran a piece of crappy speaker wire from the fan blower motor under the dash to the passenger side, thru the firewall and to tied it into what looks like the elec choke??? First time I found about it was when I pressed my bare leg up next to the fuse box and it branded my leg it was so hot. So I figure something something in the heating or elec carb circuit is screwy.
  11. Looking at a really sweet 1980 200 SX. Don't know what the prefix means. Seems like the letters mean different things between vehicle models. Do the last 6 numbers mean anything or just a serial number? Thx KPS110-XXXXXX
  12. In 1975 I worked for Joe Vittone's Datsun dealership (of EMPI fame) at the new auto mall in Riverside CA. It was one of the largest volume Datsun car sellers in the country one of the first multi- manufacturer malls on the west coast. They sold VW, Honda , Fiat , Lotus, Opel, Suburu, Jensen Healey, Datsun, and a couple other exotics on special order. I was part of a team who installed dealer options on new cars including door moulding, mirrors, bumpers, slotted and other style mags, Jackman can-opener style and other steel wheels, after-market cruise control kits, custom bumpers , AC, camper shells and the likes. Being inland in a desert community AC was our biggest seller. It was also very new to a small import car market with tiny cars that had very little horse power to power big square piston powered compressors. The definition of "Dealer Options" then was after- market products NOT made by Datsun/Nissan and the other import mfgrs. Shipping was much slower and basic engine & drive-train warranty parts were hard to find and acquire. Coming from overseas there were very very few option parts available that dealers would commit to ordering without having it special- ordered and pre- paid for. Even then you could wait 8-10 weeks for it depending on demand. A Datsun Factory AC unit was one these units and they were really expensive for the time! The AC could be 20-25% of the purchase price of an economical car like a Datsun . If we installed aftermarket AC in some vehicles like then Fiat X-19 it required drilling a 4-5" duct hole thru the unibody firewall which voided the factory warranty before the vehicle left the lot brand new! It was much easier, faster, cheaper, and more profitable for dealers to acquire after-market AC units and have us slam them into new cars in the smoldering desert. If a buyer didn't use (or look for) the term "factory A/C" they got after market AC. They were shiny molded plastic and to the (interior) eye looked the same. Copyright laws weren't so strict yet either and after- market parts suppliers would put mfgrs logos on parts boxes like performance products, trailer hitches, camper shells, and the likes to help sell them and for installers to identify them by. At the time car mfgrs didn't seem to mind as it helped advertise their brand. The confusion over failed parts, who actually made them, their liability, and the was sort was still in its infancy. Unfortunately, in my experience the unit in the above pic is an aftermarket AC unit and I can tell at a glance. Nissan uniformly used threaded line fittings. The dryer unit in the one pictured above is a universal dryer with slide-on hose- barbs req requiring hose clamps. These were high pressure lines and these slide fittings leaked religiously sooner or later. The repair team racked up mega flat-rate labor hours off this design flaw. Quickly tighten hose clamps, evacuate the system, & recharge. Most of the time they would even need/ want to run the freon-sniffer over the system for bother leaks $$$! The second quick glance way I'd label it an after-market unit ...the dryer is mounted with a giant 3-4" hose clamp! Corner-cutting cheapo! Nissan was not shy about creating documentation and typically included it in in their SRM's &/or put NISSAN on everything with lots of confusing categorization, compared to ours in the us. The above AC unit looks like a state-side unit to me. Hope this helps.
  13. Found an old post saying you had an AC switch, but no indication it sold. Still have? Or the decorative plastic piece that covers the main unit?
  14. Oh, what great flashbacks! 1962 Rambler 4 dr sedan baby blue, 6 cyl, three on the tree. The flat front seats folded down to meet the back seat, turning it into a full size bed! Who could resist that feature for your time out! (Dad’s, Mom’s sis’s, then mine.) 1963 1ton GMC 21’ KampKing Housecar (Housecar is what they called Motorhomes back in the day.) Big V-6 four speed with a granny gear on the floor with a 3’ shifter. It would top out about 62 mph. If I could only count… (Orig Dad’s then mine years later. ) 1970 AMC Hornet 4 dr sedan, two tone gold with white top. A clumsy ride. (Mom’s) 1969 Ford Econoline telephone van, army green with windows only on passenger side. A stealthy outing ;) (Dad’s) 1971 Monte Carlo. First year, really sweet a sweet ride. Dad really didn't appreciate catching me and my girl more than “sparking” in his new ride. 1965 Pontiac GTO 389 w/ 3 deuces, Muncie on the floor. A real screamer! ;) (Mine, all mine.) 1968 Chevy 90 Van 6 cyl, three on the tree, no windows to hide the nice-ittys inside. 1980 Nissan 720 2x4 with 2 step camper shell. Big feet, tall headroom, long bed, is all I can say about that. (Dad’s, borrowed for camping.) 1978 Pontiac Trans-Am Special Edition. Any time anywhere... (GF’s) 1965 Chevy Corvair 2 dr convertible. Nothing better than a stick shift with the top-down on a hot desert night! (GF's) (Damn I gotta find pics of these sweet rides. ) Then I got married and things got a bit modern and routine 2000 Toy Pre-runner xcab 2006 Toy Tundra But when the 79 620 gets running….:)
  15. DZMike, What brand do you consider a high quality carb kit? And what makes it so?
  16. Hey Steroid, Tried to PM you but said you can't receive, prob mail box full with this event coming on fast? I'm coming to the BBQ Saturday. Would like to make it up from SD in time to go to the old Datsun Dealer. What time should I show up? Also ,do you still make the 620 Spook style spoilers? If so are you bringing any? Cost? I didnt' realize you have made two models. I could pay you up front via Paypal. When I grew up in Riverside in the 70's all I ever saw was the pointy spook style. Never saw the more square BRE style until years later. The square style doesn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling of my youth like the pointy ones. B) Had an orig and sold it to a kid, now I wish I had put it on my 79. If you made any Sasquatch-size T'shirts (3X) I'll take one of those too. Seeker
  17. 720 MIRROR BUYER To the guy who bought a pair of 720 mirrors from me at the Eagle Rock Swap meet last Sunday... Late last night I found one of the plastic mounting gaskets. It reminded me of another place to look for the other one tonight. If you still need them PM me and I'll mail the one, and maybe both to you.
  18. Ok, I'll say it. Always knew you were full of hot air Rucky!

  20. I'll be there with the last of my 620 stuff, and four 720 consoles. It needs to go.
  21. Hey Topher, Tried to PM you but maybe your mail box limit is full? Was that you selling next to me at the Eagle Rock Swap meet a couple meets ago? I was in a White Toyota Tundra selling 620 truck parts? I'm in No. Co. San Diego and fish too. P.M. me.
  22. This guy has almost everything for a 620 truck except the body, dash, and frame. Gauges, wiring harness, lights, trans, beautiful orig black console with delete plate, gobs of stuff in nice shape. 77 CA running 620 truck had too much back fees and DMV woulnd't budge, so he is parting it out. Very reasonable prices. He needs it gone ASAP. He also has the complete AC for a 79 wagon that had a L20b motor. Engine AC parts might work for 620? Also has a roof rack he says is for a 510. He can't receive calls. Email is best way to reach him, then he'll call you back. yotafied1@hotmail.com http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/pts/3842118236.html
  23. If you don't want to ship...Washington is a bit too far for a Sunday drive starting from CA. Thx anyway.
