  1. Oops, my bad, yes., I always mix up the location of the two. Very sorry.
  2. By the way... Beware. There's a guy in Chula Vista selling Datsun parts out of a commercial storage locker and he works there too. He claimed he had a new $20 620 part and I gambled and paid him for it on Paypal since he gave me the address of the business. After making the 40 mile drive to pick it up I looked thru a big locker of stuff. He didn't have the part, claimed he had it and misplaced it. I bought some other small stuff from him cash, and had to wait for him to try and upsell me a bunch of stuff that wasn't even for a 620 and I didn't want. he claimed he'd still ship me the missing part. Never did. If you deal with him make sure you do it in person and have the part in hand first. I sure wouldn't buy from his ads on CL and Ebay. His followup and word is no good. In person he's ok as long as you have the part in hand. Some stuff priced ok, a lot is pretty high, but he does negotiate.
  3. I guess I was having a pretty good run for 4-5 years up until last summers thru this one looking for 620 stuff. Sierra and I are having the same experience... extremely scarce in the southland. I know Colourbox is a speed demon on the road and scanning the internet Datto listings. I'd take her word for it, but I sure haven't seen that many. I'll take your word for it that it comes in waves. It must be like salt water fishing? This year is another boom year for big tuna in close in San Diego, just not Datto hunting. I'll keep my eyes open and post what I find.
  4. They look kinda like early 720 license plate lights looking at the parts diagrams, don't they?
  5. I was curious for a guy out in Yucaipa, but know now I've learned he doesn't have transportation to come pull the motor and take it home. Thanks anyway. What happened to all the Datsuns since PaP bought up Ecology anyway? Are they selling them off to a wholesaler instead of taking them to their yards? There haven't been hardly any for two summers and all the time inbetween! I hate that.
  6. Got these in a parts deal. Anybody know if these are Datsun license plate lights? If not know what they fit?
  7. There's a B210 listed in th Chula Vista PaP in So Cal, but the pics show it's really a 77 200SX. Has anyone seen it to know if the engine is still in it?
  8. Some time ago I put Peel and Seal from Lowes Hardware ($19/ roll) sound deaden-er in the spare tire well of my 200SX. Covered each piece with the aluminum flashing tape. It made a huge difference in road noise, and I haven't smelled a thing even going to the So Cal desert. Unfortunately, i can now hear the aged window seals hissing. That's the trade offs of doing improvements! But it's sure worth the money saved to put toward other parts. Those professional brands are sure super expensive. This past weekend I put Peel and Seal in the passenger door of my 620, the back speaker wells, and back wall of the cab. I've still got another door to do and the floor but that will come after I get the Dash back in and the driver door rebuilt. But I confess I did spend some extra bucks for a small piece of Dynamat (door kit sized) just to put on the floor over the muffler and CAT. If my wife smells any odd odors she doesn't like... she wont' get inside or near my Datsun. Now that I think of it... I'm surprised she'll get near me!
  9. Why risk shipping your new found treasure with someone you don't know? I rented a Uhaul car transport trailer. Tthey are really nice with chains and tire straps, and they hook it up and test it all, and unhook it. One-way from Stockton to San Diego for $200 (if you reserve in advance.) Loaded a dead Dat using a $20 Harbor Freight ratcheting nylon strap just to see if I could save the price of a come-along. It took a dozen or so bites, using a tire block to keep it from rolling back, and now I don't have a $50 cheap come-along doing nothing in my garage. Towed it behind my Tundra pick up. Make it part of your Datsun adventure
  10. I love HRH's idea. And don't forget to paint the Ratsun/ Flying Tiger eyeball and mouth full of teeth on it! Or if you want to be nice-er, paint it all over with 60's hippie flowers. If the neighbor's inquire or comment on it, tell them its a jungle-gym for when your "grand kids" come to visit.
  11. Wish I had an easy fix for you Mike, but I don't. I work for a utility company that was taken over by a city, so now we're city workers. Yuck. We get calls all the time from residents wanting us to referee issues between neighbors about leaves falling in the others yards, sprinklers watering neighbor's cars, water flooding the others property, shade from one yard killing the others vegetables or flowers. Some of these issues carry on for years and get ugly depending on if/& how the two parties resolve it. Even as a city employee I get caught up in these same crappy issues at my house and can't find an easy way out. The city (ie: utility workers, cops, inspectors) in California can't do anything in a situation like these because... 1) it isn't city property, it is private property. The city has no responsibility or jurisdiction over what happens with private property unless someobody is breaking a city ordinance in the witness of a city employee. 2) a complaint has not been filed with the city that a law has been broken by one of the residents and it needs investigating (ie trespassing or mischief, to be proven by the accuser with documentation &/or witnesses.) If a complaint had is filed the two parties will be suponeaed to go to court about it. Our city offers free mediation for residents to try and resolve these issues, keep city costs down, and keep these minor cases out of the court systems. If it fails to get resolved you can still take it to court. It is just a lot of time and mental energy expended. Right now it is a civil issue with no charges filed between two neighbors regarding private property. Call your city manager's office and ask about city ordinances, how to file a complaint, mediation etc. It is always good ammunition for your next conversation with the nim-rods next door. If it sounds to them as though you've already contacted the city first, and may have the city "on your side," it may help motivate them to resolve it. Hopefully they aren't elderly self centered nim-rods who can't listen at all.
  12. I like the ideas that are brain-storming, especially the ones advising to not set yourself up for further retribution and stooping to their level. My house was burglarized a couple years back so we had to get an alarm. Just last Monday both my car and my wife's DD were slim-jimmed and gone through. They left the doors ajar and the courtesy lights in my wife's Honda Pilot killed the battery. Luckily we don't leave anything of value in the cars, and we're religious about locking them. I guess cameras are next to deter the pricks. So sad what we have to go thru to protect our homes. Sorry, I was being a smart ass in my previous response. I didn't expect you to pay a big expense for a tree and a crane. Have a conversation with the old lady or the turd-son simply stating you could have him/them charged with mischief &/or trespassing and have witnesses if they don't agree to repayment for the tree, and mention mediation/legal is next if not. At their age the idea of adding to /or ruining their criminal record might motivate them to keep communication open, and let them know this isn't ok and isn't over. If not, get the biggest $ judgment you can and buy the biggest, fastest growing tree you can.
  13. in San Diego we have tree farms where you can buy huge mature trees in gigantic pots. Perhaps next time they're on vacation or some sleepy Saturday you might have one crane-ed in? You probably don't want a 40' palm tree... but maybe you'd like to try apples or peaches this time? Does Mrs. DZM bake? :)
  14. This is a nice notice. I'll be there. I saw Mike at a lot of ER Swaps in LA. Talked to him on a number of occasions and bought parts from him there. And I happened to run into him at the same motel I stayed at for the Canby OR event a couple times. Was he a So Cal Inland Empire resident?
  15. Mike was like an institution with his big source of parts at nearly every Datsun event I went to. Saw and talked with him at all the Eagle Rock Swap meets in Los Angeles, and both times I went to Canby. Bought parts from him numerous times and he'd always return my calls to answer questions about his parts before I bought. Mike will be deeply missed here in So. Cal.
  16. Late last year I picked up a handful of dash's from a guy in Oregon who wanted them all gone. The pads were all badly trashed and I didn't have the room to store them, so I dismantled them all and have been selling the pieces off by themselves at the Eagle Rock swap meet in Los Angeles and on CL. One was an early model with the flat plugs, the others were all 78-79, some still had parts stickers on them. I can look and see if I have still have the early one left if you still need one, but I think it might have been missing a few plugs or had been altered. You and anyone who needs one of them can PM me if interested.
  17. I'd be interested to know what the rubber costs, especially if doing enough for two cars brings down the cost B)
  18. interesting dash texture. What product did you use?
  19. Hey Unicorn Onwer Count me in! I too am a member of the club! I've got an early production number of the 80 Federal hatchback model with four plugs (and why do they have to change production parts within the same year model??? What a hassle ensuring I have the right parts. lol ) with the big square tail light lenses vs. the connected rectangular ones. Some elderly couple without kids bought it new and always kept it maintained at a dealership and garaged at home. They both passed away over time. A neighbor saw it for sale as part of their estate and researched it online and noticed it was advertised by Nissan to get close to 40 mpg! He bought it up right away for son who had just started college. The son took one look at it and said "no way." The father told him to drive it first before he decides thinking he'd be hooked. At the time the thermostat was stuck open and it burned really rich all the time. The kid drove it around the block, smelled how rich it was, and refused to drive it further. His loss is my gain! I put i a new thermostat to get it to pass CA smog check. Now it doesn't burn rich any more, is much more responsive, and it gets 31 MPG before I've even had a chance to adjust the valves or perform any tune up checks. Mine doesn't have any fancy leather like yours, no moon roof, & no cruise control, but it is a nice blue with blue fuzzy cloth interior, orig hubcaps, Power brakes, Power windows, and AC. (I'm still trying to get one control cables to work and stay in adjustment so I can recharge the AC now that I've found a rebuilt compressor on Ebay. Unfortunately it also has a mild sticker design overlaid on the paint that is hanging in there, may as well "use it" till I lose it." And I'm still not sure if I'll put the venetian blinds back on the back window since they rattle over bumps. My 620 KC is classic fun to drive, but this thing is a real blast to drive with fuel injection and coil-overs. Even the cassette still works, I don't have but one old blues tape I found in a box of old crap, but it still works and sounds good! lol And... I love the "new technology" at the time... a joy stick mounted in the dash for speaker separation instead of a collar on a radio post, or slide switch. It cracks me up. Can't wait to get the orig elec antenna unit working so I can use the up/down switch on the dash. My only complaint... between the venetian blinds and and the tiny elec square mirrors it is really really hard to see out of backing up. Its a good thing it will turn a really tight circle, especially with power steering! It ain't got no bouncing "Bitching Betty" but it does have an annoying door bell chime that rings when you leave the key in it or the door ajar. Besides the AC and the elec antennae it's the only thing that doesn't work... because i disconnected it. Currently at work, but I might be able to post pics later tonight.
  20. Jose, you put on the best events! Thanks so much. A very special Thank You to the vendor who brought out all the Datsun documentation, sales and promotional material, photos, and personal records that belonged to his father that worked for Datsun in the marketing and design field and had passed away.it was literally a treasure trove of history and memorabilia that he made available to the local Datsun affectionados who could appreciate it. He told me he thought nobody would be interested in the stuff he'd brought and doubted if anyone would come to his space I'm telling you...It was THE most busiest space of the day. When I finally got away from my selling spot sometime approaching noon and the event was slowing down, everywhere I went I saw Datsun fans looking over together and sharing the original books, posters, pictures of Datsun ships offloading cars, 6-8 different Datto shopping bags, window sticker invoices, orig Datsun stickers, and scads of other materials this man had taken the time to bring to Eagle Rock instead of throwing it away as junk. I salute your father's incredible career and achievements, and your thoughtful consideration and generosity in making it available to the local Datsun Community. Seeker
  21. http://www.noaa.gov SundayPartly sunny, with a high near 66! Living 100 miles away I once let a worse threat of rain scare me off and I missed a great meet.
  22. Who says you gotta be able to weld to do do sheet metal work? That's re-purposing at its finest! Wish I was that creative
  23. Nice job on adapting it to orig mount? What did the new mirror come out of? Going yard picking soon
