  1. Quit your bitchin' and drive up here...
  2. I think Im just going to leave it for a bit... but to everyone listening: rising sun will not happen. It was not an option and was only displayed because someone asked about it. My painting options were leave it or go all white to get rid of the fading.
  3. I think I might just do that. The only silver lining to Winter this year was it was flaking the rest of the clear coat off my trunk for me. Didnt do much today, but I did install the carpet for the parcel tray. I have the rest ready to go, but Im waiting to finalize my front seat situation so I dont have to pull them twice.
  4. Im right there with you Jason. This is my exact thinking... I threw the design up because they asked, but I really dont see that as an option right now. I think its all white or nothing. Everything about the car is subtle and thats what I like.
  5. I agree whole heartedly about the hood being a distraction to the rest of the car. I dont want that. I think I like the red rising run look, but its not the theme Im really going for. The white and teal looks great. Theres only one problem though... the whole reason I want to paint the hood is to get rid of all the faded teal paint. If I dont paint the whole hood, theres no reason to paint it at all. I just want a clean styled car; nothing crazy. I think a rising sun is too much Japanese bling factor.
  6. Glad to see someone using the dry ice method. It surprises me how many build threads Ive seen where people do it the hard way. Those floors look good.
  7. Here is what I came up with: Red and white- Teal and white-
  8. Bumping this one back up now that theres less than a month to go. Anyone for sure making this? I pre-registered mostly for the no wait parking. They also mentioned that if you pre-register and roll in together, we can all park together.
  9. I thought it was early April. Oh well, thats not this meet... There should be enough time to hang at this one for a bit before rolling up to NF.
  10. What do you store in that 6in roof rack?
  11. Here is a 5min PS job: I just think it would be better as a two-tone over the faded and peeling hood. The rest of the paint is quite decent.
  12. Thats what I was thinking... just wasnt at the house yet. Be home in like 5min.
  13. It will depend on the details of when roll-in is for Nissan Fest since Ive decided to go this year. Ive talked to Angelina about meeting up and rolling in with whatever Northender 510s go... If theres plenty of time to do both, Ill for sure show up and say whats up. Arent we getting close to POTD? Isnt that usually in April sometime?- wheres Bleach when you need him?
  14. The re-dye and the mirrors looks great!
  15. Well Indy just liked my above post so he still comes in here... I just think he comes in to see all the havoc hes created since hes dropped this project. He just lurks his own threads.
  16. Thanks guys... slowly, but surely its getting there. Lots more work ahead. So, going over some of the pictures theres one thing that bugs me: the hood and trunk. Both spots look shitty compared to the rest of the paint. Im down for patina, but the whole car isnt covered in it... just the hood and trunk. Im thinking of painting both white to help clean up the appearance some. Whats the peanut gallery say?
  17. Im not adverse to having parts look nice and function well, but there comes a point when its not worth it. Bonvo already pointed out he swapped in a radiator for something like $50. If you dont want the poor looking (purely opinion) swap then you can pick up the $300 Koyorad. Theres a pretty big difference in price. The third thing is that Chinese knock-of on CL will probably be something like $200-$225. Its great that its a shiny aluminum radiator and $100 less than that Koyorad, but who knows what kind of quality youre going to get. Poor cooling, busted welds, irregular fitment. When the cons outweigh the $50 junkyard swap youre now wasting the price difference of $175 instead of saving $100. Swap in a nice junkyard radiator and use your savings to purchase new spark plugs, cap, and other misc. tune-up parts to help your ride run better. You will be far happier.
  18. If I were to do something like major off-roading/rallying in the 510 with something like this, it might be wise to strengthen those areas for the large bumps and drops you would take, but I dont see a normal pothole or speedbump being able to rip through the rear mounts.
  19. I see your point, but its not like this is the first time this is being done... everyone runs the same style when coilovers are used and Ive never heard of any failure.
  20. Im going to say no. There are a lot of them that look similar, but that doesn't mean they are. You really do get what you pay for most of the time... especially with auto parts. There is usually a difference in quality when you buy from something that Made in the US or Made in China or Made in Japan. If its not a true product by one of the well known companies, Id venture to say they are all the same Chinese knockoffs. Some people have decent reviews on parts like that and some have horrible experiences. Since they are cheap Chinese products thats going to be a normal thing because their quality control is almost non-existant. If you cant afford a real aluminum radiator made by a respectable company, I would just pick up another OEM type from a different vehicle and swap it in. At least you know its a decent unit. No reason to buy Chinese crap just to have a shiny radiator.
  21. Should make a cool Sunday cruiser then! This has always been one thing I wish my family was into... no one has ever kept cars long enough to pass them down. I really wish I could inherit or purchase an older family car. Ive seen pictures of some dope ones my grandmother had, but alas nothing once I got older. Oh well, Ill just start with my 510. Cant wait to see progress on this
  22. Overall not a horrible project. This will be nice once you get it back up and going... What are your plans?- OEM restore? Maybe some high HP muscle car build? EIther way this will be a nice build Im sure.
  23. You would think a senior member would post at least one photo :poke:
  24. AFAIK, no. They are labeled as low-speed off-road vehicles. I see them all the time on military bases near the piers and such as worker and mini cargo transport. Edit: I just found their website and pulled this off it to confirm:
