$2k for a car in the yard? Psh pass. If they arent the running ones that yards sometimes sell, then its worth something like $400 (can vary) which is around scrap price. Yards will always think they have gold and prices will be higher. You need to ask him whats wrong with it and take a bunch of pictures. $2000 is average-ish price for a good condition 1200 with a clear title and runs around here. Might be a bit more since youre on the East Coast. Go back ask him everything weve pointed out, take some pictures, and report back here. I say his price is way high, but thats me.

Well most times you can get inspections done through Highway Patrol and go from there. Once again, the junkyard should be knowledgeable on that process as well. Im sure they have be apart of it before. Depending on state, its not hard and as long as the car passes the appropriate inspections, you can get a clear title in your name. Hell some people take cars to the yard because of blown headgaskets which isnt a structural problem at all. But once again, this yard should have all the answers youre looking for.

If you talk to the people that own the yard, they can tell you why its there. We have absolutely no idea... it could be 1000 different things. All yards will be different when it comes to whole car purchasing so once again you will have to ask them. Some wont even sell cars once they are in as they usually can make more money when parted and then scraped. Also know that you usually get a junk yard title with the car so depending on your state laws, it will vary to get an actual clear title in your name.

So L20 is a great block; its the 2.0L and larger than what you were told. The W58 is known as the "smog head" and is decent. If you want to look around for an A87/U67 head you can swap them for a bit more performance, but if the W58 isnt giving you any problems you should be fine. I believe the larger trucker flag mirrors are whats stock. Rock whatever you think looks good :thumbup:

Yeah, everyone wants bumperettes. If you look at the passenger-side of the block it will tell you which it is. It will be near the bottom and between plugs 3/4. If it says L18 then your info is correct. Also, check out which head it is.

So a short story with no pictures... Yesterday the girlfriend and I drove around in the 510 all day. It was really nice out and I was suppose to meet up with a local Dimer who wanted to see the car. Anyway, constantly throughout the day people were revving at us; everyone acted like an idiot. I pulled into a parking lot for lunch (passing two guys coming out) and as we walked into the restaurant the guys we passed were leaving in their newer Jetta. They saw that I was the 510 guy that just came in so they decided to do a burn out from the parking space they were in. They ended up jumping the sidewalk curb like idiots. My girlfriend and I ate lunch and continued with our day. Then as I was pulling into a gas station an e30 decided it wanted to be cool and did all this revving at me and peeled away down the street. My girlfriend made the comment that drivers are so stupid. I said it was because I was driving the 510 and they were trying to flex their automotive power at me. She was like, "really? what a bunch of bitches." I died laughing. Yes... stupid ricers are a bunch of bitches.
