porkchop
Head over to http://www.thesamba.com or to http://www.volksrods.com like fastdadd said for any info you might want. As far as lowering a 1302 Super, it is very easy . you can do coils or adjustable struts in the front and the rear torsion bars just need reindexed. Of course, you could always bag it. ariascarlos1990
how do you reindex the tosion on these? spotted your thread on there also porkchop: http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15725&highlight=torsion ive been reading for awhile now and can't seem to find a simple process. its not like a Datsun that's for sure. ill keep reading and hopefully find something. porkchop
Check out all four parts of this video, it should help out. This is a Type 3 that he is lowering, but the process for your Bug will be identical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMxBolHOJR4&feature=related Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
yeah watched all 4 and the 2 for the front. Thanks Quote Link to comment
comply
Do something like this IMO. Maybe not to one in as good of condition yours is, but I would kill to have a racing beetle. midship turbo flat 4 would be epic. Quote Link to comment
porkchop
yeah watched all 4 and the 2 for the front. Thanks No problem. The video for the front (if on the same car) will do you no good. That Type 3 has a completely different suspension from regular bugs, and especially your Super. the Super Beetle actually has a strut front suspension. Do something like this IMO. Maybe not to one in as good of condition yours is, but I would kill to have a racing beetle. midship turbo flat 4 would be epic. If you were gonna do something like this, a Super would be the one to do it to. You might also look into the German Look scene which involves more of a road racer setup, disc brakes, big wheels (usually Porsche), large displacement engine with Porsche style cooling, etc. Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
this isen't a super beetle its a standard. no struts here. just a shock. Quote Link to comment
turbojunker
this isen't a super beetle its a standard. no struts here. just a shock. There's torsion bars up front too. Quote Link to comment
Moisabamf
my friend(one with the mic) builds these things to drag. he holds a record in the 1/4 mile time Quote Link to comment
porkchop
this isen't a super beetle its a standard. no struts here. just a shock. My bad.....In that case, narrowed, adjustable beam is the way to go! :D Quote Link to comment
porkchop
There's torsion bars up front too. Technically, it's a torsion leaf pack setup, but same concept... Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
can't I just do this? http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64301 Quote Link to comment
turbojunker
Technically, it's a torsion leaf pack setup, but same concept... I know, considering I've had three. Quote Link to comment
porkchop
can't I just do this? http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64301 Yes, that will work, but I use a different style of adjuster. The style of adjuster in that thread works just as well if you do a little research and make sure you don't buy a brand that has issues with the teeth or set screw stripping. I have built quite a few beams and have had really good luck with these adjusters: http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-4032 If you wanna go really low, you will also need these :http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-4193 and these: http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-4192 I would suggest a set of dropped spindles and narrowing your beam if you really wanna go low with it.
