DaveyDaveDaveDave
So I was doing a little cleanup on my 620 and decided to flip the distributor. Its a keyed drive, so either way should work, right? And I hate the vac pod pointing towards the eng. Dont ask why. Anyhow, I go to fire it up, and pow! 4th of july. Am I missing something to just turning the thing 180 deg? Ive seen pics with em pointing both ways and ive maxed the timing in both directions to see if that might show my prob, and nothing. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
If you turned the dizzy 180 deg then you need to swap the plug wires also. put 1 where 4 use to be If not put motor on TDC comp stroke where rorotr locks down at thet will be your #1 plug then go 1 3 4 2 COUNTER CLOCK WISE fire order. maybe you just got the fire order wrong.????? save this website!!!!!!!! http://olddatsuns.com/620tech.htm Edited February 4, 2009 by banzai510(hainz) Quote Link to comment

ppeters914
So, working after moving the wires like the HainzMeister suggested? If not, post some pics. Quote Link to comment
DaveyDaveDaveDave
Yeap, Hainz nailed it. I cant say I get why. I didnt change anything except which way the thing faced, never even took off the cap or a single wire but when I switched em up... vroom! Quote Link to comment
nbesheer
Isn't the key on the distributer shaft offset ? so it only goes on one way ? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the rotor is in the same direction but the cap gets installed 180. Thats why you move the wires 180. The cap is indexed one way also Quote Link to comment
DaveyDaveDaveDave
Isn't the key on the distributer shaft offset ? so it only goes on one way ? Yea, I noticed that when I took the dizzy back out. Now Im just wondering if I did manage to twist the thing 180 at some point and this would also help me make sense of banzais switching the wires working. Any which way, I drove the thing today no probs and went and got a fancy close(er) ratio trans for my celica! Quote Link to comment
