sssr20det510
i noticed on all the real race cars they have what looks like metal brackets around the windshield are those just bent pieces of steel or can you buy them ??? Quote Link to comment
Skib
not really sure what your talking about but maybe you mean the pieces that hold in the lexan window? Quote Link to comment
WagDatto
Sounds like that's what he means. In most racing applications, glass isn't allowed on any of the windows, so they replace them with lexan/plexiglass windows, and use those brackets to help pin them in. I'd assume you can make your own, but why do you want them? Quote Link to comment
Skib
if hes building a race car (Im assuming by the Q) then i think he needs to do a bit more reading up on the class specs before he starts wrenching Quote Link to comment
///FiveOneOh
agreed.... also most racing you need the windshield to be glass. the rest can be lexan. Quote Link to comment

Schroeder6th
They are generally Aluminum. And easy enough to make if you have a home depot, saw, vice and drill. Ditto: Check you sanctioning bodies rule book. I can send you photo's of "tabs" or "full length" versions. Regards, Doc Hudson Quote Link to comment
LAYEDOUTB2K
definitely check your rule book. in my dads old 510 racecar, he just had to rivet the lexan windshield in with no tabs. its different in other sanctioning bodies. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Not needed on a street car, (besides probably being illegal) and are the equivalent of a ricer wing on the back. Just for looks. Quote Link to comment
Dime Dave
My Datsun 1200 has 1/8" thick aluminum "clips". These are required when road racing with SCCA, 3 top, 2 bottom, 1" wide minimum (my lower corner ones are extra). Also, required are 2 full height 1/8" x 1" minimum straps on the outside of the rear window. In SCCA GT racing the windshield can be Lexan, 1/4" minimum thickness and 3 interior 1" wide supports are required behind it. If racing, check the rule book, every sanctioning body has a different idea of what is needed and some even differ between classes within the same organization. Quote Link to comment
