Yes, they can be reused if not damaged. Clean the threads and those in the block, wipe bolts with oily rag, make sure the head is flat using a proper straight edge, do not use a sealer or any gasket coatings and away you go. Use a good torque wrench and tighten in this pattern to 20 ft. lbs....

1.......2

5......6

9....10

 

Repeat this pattern to 40 ft. lbs and one last time to 60 ft. lbs.

Good point I didn't read the first post enough. Yes the chain tensioner must not be allowed to pop out. If it does the whole front of the engine (timing cover, water pump, distributor, oil pump, alternator, radiator) has to be removed to retrieve it... and you have to drain the cooling system and buy a few new gaskets.

This is the chain holder they're talking about.  I'm pretty sure it prints 1:1 so you can use it as a template to cut your own from a block of wood.
