Mr_Mudney
Hello All, I’m replacing the clutch on my dearest Debbie (1979 Datsun 620, 5 speed), but am having some issue with dropping the transmission. I’ve followed the manual to a T and have got everything removed, transmission separated from the engine, and cleared the bell housing, but on the output side of the transmission there are a pair of fins that stick out from the sides of the case and these fins have wedged themselves behind the adjustment bolts for the torsion bars. I can’t move the transmission rearwards because the shifter portion is sticking as up and as far back into the cab slot as possible. And I can’t lift the transmission up anymore because the case is under the pressure plate. I am at a loss at the moment on how to proceed, any help would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The truck must be in the air then so mark the torsion bar adjustment bolts and remove them. Might help getting it back in too. Borrow a saws-all and trim them off. They serve no purpose on the 620. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Just in case, by up in the air I mean the front wheels are hanging down loose? If not then lift the front from under the frame. Quote Link to comment
