sick620
@ggzillaCan you please give me a step by step on how you did a crank fired igntion on your a12? I tried to message you but does not work. I want to run my a12 cam in my a14 but is not going to spin my distributor. I read that you were able to make a setup for $125 years ago, I would love to recreate it. My research has came up with this. I need ford edis4 setup from like an escort at the junkyard, should run without megajolt, but need megajolt to make power and have it run good right? Megajolt is $300 makes me wonder if its smarter to get megasquirt or something in case I want to run some dcoe throttlebodies and make it fuel injected. sick620
So this started as me just wanting advice on a cheap easy way to get a few extra horsepower out of a A14, this has snowballed quite a bit. I am pretty sure I am going to do a crank trigger ignition from a ford, it is not that much more expense than finding a matchbox dizzy, there is an easy to understand how to on the 1200wiki, and I can't run a matchbox dizzy with this A12 cam in my A14 block anyways. Since I am doing this type ignition I have decided that I might as well get megasquirt so I can go some sort of EFI. Since I have this dcoe intake now I think I am going to run these style throttlebodies.. $500-$600 on ebay. then with a microsquirt it would not be too much more expensive than 2 real weber dcoe carbs. I will be able to program 2 step, rev limiter, shift light etc on a A series. So should be pretty cool in this little high rev motor. Also this allows me to possibly in the future have a plenum made to attach to the throttle bodies and run a small turbo J piped off the header. My only concern is how good these cheap chinese throttle bodies are, no good how to anywhere or detailed reviews. Edited April 21, 2023 by sick620 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Check this place out.... priced are similar, not sure about the conversion rate.... https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-bodies-and-components/throttle-bodies As far as I know they are really good quality.... they have a couple different length throttle bodies and the have a heritage line which are pricey but look exactly like a real weber but with efi internals.... Stoffregen Motorsports
TWM or Borla throttle bodies are less expensive, but the look custom. I like that Jenvey modeled them after a DCOE. Too bad they didn't copy a Solex/Mikuni instead. Quote Link to comment

I will get one of these setups. 1 Quote Link to comment
