battery drain

Every time i plug the battery in, it starts to drain without the truck running.i thought it was the AC compressor because every time i plug the battery in, it would click. So, i take the useless compressor out. Now there is a click noise in the starter solinoid( i think its just the solinoid engaging). I left my battery plugged in and today, my battery was dead. Please help save me a lot of money.

If it was the starter solenoid the starter would turn the motor over. Must be something else.

Won't be the compressor as there shouldn't be any power to it with the key off. If it's clicking it's getting power from somewhere it shouldn't.

With everything off, pull the fuses and put back in one at a time till you hear the clicking. See which fuse causes it.

use a test light inbetween the battery and ground. when it drains the liaght will be ON

This is the best way to find a short. Pull fuses until the light goes out. The fuse it goes out on is the shorted circuit.

Troubleshoot, don't guess ;)
