The idle mixture is set at the factory. The hole the mixture screw is in is then sealed with an aluminum plug. If you feel that you must, drill an 1/8th inch hole and twist a wood screw in and pull the lug out.

The idle speed screw has a philips head and is in the upper left.

It coils up when cold and unwinds as it is heated electrically. The choke flap is connected to and follows this. To run richer (only on warm up) you can adjust the coil tighter against the choke flap. To lean out during warm up loosen the adjustment.

It runs for about 10-15 seconds and then shuts off. Also my accelerator pump is leaking out the top plate.

Does it run if you keep cycleing the pedal????? then its running off the accel pump

Accell pump leaky its the diapraph that has a hole and shooting out .

other added infor

If flooding out then the float bowl cut off valve(usually i little ball bearing is dirty)  of float sinks cause hol and full of gas

Did you remove the plug covering the adjustment screw?

It's different for every engine. If they were all 1 1/2 turns then why are they made to be adjustable? try 1 1/2 out to start if it won't idle try 2 turns go from there

Turn warmed up engine idle speed down as low as possible.

Turn mixture screw in and out searching for the fastest smooth idle speed. There may be a turn where the idle doesn't change so set roughly in the middle.

Turn idle down to 700 and adjust mixture screw in and out looking for the best idle quality

Repeat till you cannot make any improvement and the idle is about 700

I assume this is idle running you're talking about????

The choke forces a rich fuel condition.

If it will only run with the choke on then it could be assumed that the engine is actually running lean and needs the choke on.

1/ Idle cut solenoid not operating. Engine off, listen near the back of the carburetor while someone turns the ignition on off on off on off. You should be able to hear a soft clicking sound if working. Does it?

1/ There is a vacuum leak. Gasket under carburetor. Check any hose connected to the intake for cracks or unplugged, specially this fitting and lines...

Look at the larger hose to the vacuum brake booster.

The adapter is known to be over tightened and cracked resulting in a vacuum leak.

Vacuum is the opposite of pressure. Idle vacuum should be above 16 in. kg. ...... 18 would be a good strong idle signal.

It is either the crank pulley or something internal to the engine or something completely different.

Yup that covers just about everything.

Power steering pump tension adjustment pulley. Possibly the water pump bearing. Alternator bearing. Any one of the belts could be loose or glazed. Remove the belts one at a time till noise stops and you have it.
