Stoffregen Motorsports
There are a few things inside the front of the engine that could cause a squealing noise, and none of them are good. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check your oil level quick! Engine squealing is the human equivalent of a death rattle. Quote Link to comment
Datsun pickup
Yes only one belt, no power steering. The squealing was coming from the harmonic balancer (crank pulley). Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
That's not good. Behind the crank pulley is a distributor drive, which could be making the noise. Could also be that the pulley is loose and the oil slinger is rubbing up against the front seal/cover. Did you have the head off recently? Quote Link to comment

hucklefish
Gas sprays out from under the radiator cap when I press the clutch pedal! Just kidding. This thread has been a fascinating read. Datzenmike, I am amazed at your helpfulness and responsiveness. Your answers to other people's questions was one of the main reasons I joined this forum. 1 Quote Link to comment
