Two questions in one, brakes and fuel tank

Recommended Posts

Had a good couple of days where my caner meds didn’t have me dragging. Went to work on the truck to find holes in the fuel tank. Will a 720 fuel tank work in a1979 Kingcab .  Looking at the 13 gal tank on Rockauto parts. Looks right except the line connection under the fill tube is straight and not a 90 degree.

Second, decided to work on the brakes and disconnected the old wheel cylinders to push through new fluid to clean the lines, no go, found crap that looks like fish eggs under the screen in master cyl. Ordering new, so inspecting the rest of the brake system what is the assembly under the cab on the passenger side frame about where the the seat would be in the cab. proportioning valve????

Correct.

I think the '80-'82 720 2wd and 4x4 regular cab short wheelbase would be the best fit.  The King Cab tank is longer/larger and has a cut out, front top, to slip under and clear the KC cab floor, so you would have to change the front mounting to support it. Forget the long box tank. It's about the size of the KC but no cut out. 16 US gal.

Yes. The early regular cab 720 2wd and 4x4 have a similar tank, all under the bed. Was suggesting if you want a larger tank the 720 KC has a notch cut out of the top front to fit under the cab slightly but you would have to move the front frame mount farther forward.

Search Dorman 576807, on Rock auto.  Tank will be here Tuesday from Amazon. They mis priced it or something cause it’s showing 169.99 now. When I ordered it , it said one left. After ordering it I looked again making sure I ordered the right thing and now it says temp out of stock.
