captain720
My '84 (Z24) FSM says 0.014" hot for intake and exhaust. That's weird my FSM says 0.012 hot Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
0.014 would seem loud to me also. Quote Link to comment

drb5721
Everything i found said .012 so thats what i adjusted them to. Changed oil to a 20w50 since it will be getting hot here soon. No more extreme rattle. Still very faint one at startup but nothing near as concerning. On another note, starter took a dive on me this morning i believe. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What oil filter did you use? A $1.99 WallMart one will have a poorly designed drain back valve... it at all. Always replace the filter, preferably Wix or NAPA brand. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Napa gold is wix, just cheaper because napa Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I won't shop for auto parts at WM on principal. Fram belongs there. 1 Quote Link to comment

racerx
Wal-Mart has purolator filters, aren't they good? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Purolator.... used to be good but so was fram. I wouldn't buy them because I don't know. Your ignorance, your loss ($). Not ignorance, bias perhaps. I own a Datsun I know how to be cheap. You are more likely to get counterfeit crap at a WallMart. They don't give a fuck where they get them. Would you buy WallMart seat belts? brake parts? steering parts? If this was a turn signal bulb I would say yes, but it's your oil filter so spend the extra few bucks. Love your engine... give it the best. 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
Fran is poor quality, agree. But not about purolator. Been on YouTube looking at fram filter vs purolator and what a difference in quality. Quote Link to comment
drb5721
I am currently running a purolator and have yet to have a filter related issue in the 7 or so years of using them. Maybe ill try a pureone filter next time and see if it helps. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the Walmart are wix(napa) at least it was . Walmart did get anew stle filter as I bought up the old style just a few weeks ago for 75cents apc. I got 8. YOu can tell the Wix by the number where the screw threads. think they was a number 62. Same as the Napa. But that was untill the new style came out. Quote Link to comment
racerx
Wal-Mart is supertech brand. Supposed to be good, saw a guy cut one open on YouTube. Quote Link to comment
