Lockleaf
No muffler is always obnoxiously loud. At least run a glasspack if you want loud and maybe not irritating. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Straight through glass packs will blat on hard throttle and pop on deceleration but have a rumbly idle. Turbo mufflers are open through but not in a straight line. I think they quiet by absorption into the glass layers and baffles. Takes more of the harshness off. My 710 still has the original resonator. It's like a straight through glass pack but with a metal screen instead. There is also a traditional muffler behind it. This winter I had a problem with the ignition and made three huge backfires that loosened it up internally. Now it's very noticeably louder. For a short trip into town or work it's no problem, but on a all day drive to Canby the drone is torture. It looks split open but I have a spare new muffler from a yard sale for $5. It's larger diameter inlet but if I cut the old one off close to the body the inlet left on may do the trick. I'd love to build a muffler, one you could open and change the packing or baffles. Maybe fill with stainless scrubbing pads? Maybe an adjustable one. Quote Link to comment

pnw210
thanks for the replys! and i think ill just get a glass pack with 2 inch pipe a local shop said they could do it for 140$. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
<<<< Younger Loud -------------- Quiet Older>>>> What I find is, that on long trips hours of drone is very annoying. Makes you tired sooner. Would be nice to have an adjustable muffler from inside the cab. Maybe vacuum operated that by passes some of the baffles. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Nissan variable capacity muffler. Chambered muffler at low rpm/exhaust volume, high rpm pushes open a valve in the muffler body and its straight through. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Interesting design though... Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
I'm installing the g20 version on my z22 510. Its not absurdly large, but yes it's a little bigger than a standard compact car muffler. Quote Link to comment
charolastra
Any reviews on the monza pacesetter dual pipes? I found two cheap This is the same that I found https://www.carid.com/pacesetter/monza-304-ss-round-resonated-angle-cut-dual-outlet-tip-mpn-95-9919.html?view=826365&gclid=CjwKEAjwr_rIBRDJzq-Z-LC_2HgSJADoL57HWKFLTzD6GAXwXL4cyQgnOD0a5a7SpszVjkeFAsar4BoCta7w_wcB Quote Link to comment
racerx
I remember those back in the dayz, the Anza exhaust was better, mind a was a knock off version. Personally, I like dynamax or magnaflow mufflers, not too loud. Quote Link to comment
racerx
Meant monza was knock off version of Anza. Quote Link to comment
