FrankenDime
Hi all,I put in the OEM lights on my dime tonight and am thinking of replacing the amber high beam on the driver side with an intake funnel. What are your thoughts? Should I do it or put in two of them to even out the look even if the one funnel is non-functional. Below is how it looks now. 1 Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
How often do you use your high beams? I would rather route some of the air from the spook up to around the horn mount (inner fender). But I drive out of the city often and use my high beams for seeing. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
OEM would be tungsten filament and 40/55? watt. Those are just 5.75" Halogen replacement lamps. The amber ones are Mercedes fog lamps by the look of it and not at all what you need for long distance viewing down the road. Fog lamps work best when the outer lamps are off and it's foggy. If trying for a 'look' then functionality doesn't matter. Two would be somewhat pretentious like a non functioning oil cooler the size of a rad. One would draw more attention and not look like the high beams are just missing. Myself, I like to see where I'm going so I would pull the fogs and run the best high beams I could find. It's isn't rocket science to duct fresh air into the engine bay from in front of the rad. 1 Quote Link to comment
edekalil
I'm with Mike on this, I have the amber lights in the high beam position on my 72/510 just for looks because I do not drive it like I did way back. If I needed to use it dayly I wouldn't have them. But I do like the using the air dam for the intake and keep the amber lights. If that wouldn't be an option I would just use one amber light for the intake. Nice car there. Quote Link to comment
heywier427
20160424_153829 by thomas telesco, on Flickr I used an 80 watt police spot light beam in the remaining highbeam. Its bright :) Yellow spray tint from home depot to tint the funnel, and yellow lamin-x for the bulb. 2 Quote Link to comment
