Datsunscott
I am looking for what I call a side snorkel air cleaner. I have some pics from 521 and 510 - they may be on other models. I dont know how to attach picture here- 'll attach pictures and I did also place my first wtb ad in misc. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
I'd say calling it a "Stock [datsun model number] air cleaner" along with a picture is your best bet, as you've done. Just specify exactly what it's for in case they're different. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Air cleaner or air filter housing is fine. Fill out your profile so it displays the year of 521 you have. Is it the L521 with J13 engine or the PL521 with L16? Does the air horn or snorkel have ATC? (air temperature control) that draws warmed air from the exhaust manifold? Pictures.... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/54932-photobucket-ratsun/ 1 Quote Link to comment
Datsunscott
More info; I need one with 2-3/4" id for the carburetor top. and dont want ATC- want the smooth snorkel if possible. I posted pictures in a misc wtb classified ad yesterday. The picture of one in a truck has the ATC- the second picture is the (early?) smooth snorkle type I really want. I dont know if J13 and L16 air cleaners are different. They might be the same. It depends if the top of the carb is the same diameter. ps I dont have a 521- its to fitup on a 320 build! datzenmike
You don't have your profile filled out, you may be in New Zealand. There the 510 and 520/521 may have had different engines. Here they are L16s for the 510 and most 521s. The 520s were J series. If in N America you want the one for a 320 then. That would be an E series engine. Below The J series is also a small engine and one from a 520 might fit the E carb and they also look similar. Quote Link to comment
Datsunscott
Hi MIke- I am in Southern California. I need to find the right page to update my profile. That is one of the nicest 320 stock looking engine builds and eng compartment I have seen! What I am doing is seeing if I can take a 510/521 air cleaner-- flip the snorkel upside down and weld back in and make a 320 looking air cleaner for a larger carb. Thats why I need a 2-3/4 ID on the carb side. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I modded my 320 air cleaner to fit the DGV. The A12 I built had 100hp and the hole in the end of the snorkel was too small. I had to open it up to get enough air in there. Quote Link to comment
