If your motor was originally fuel injected, then you need a carb style z24 dizzy. The FI dizzy is a crank position sensor.

Thanks for ur answer. What years am I looking at and do i have to get diffrent coils or will the ones i have from the d21 work?

83 - 85 trucks distributors will work for sure. There may be other pieces necessary for the swap though. You may need the pedestal that the distributor bolts to. You may also need the shaft between the oil pump and distributor.

 

I am fairly confident the coils will work fine.

 

Other 8 plug Z dizzys will likely work as well.

Definitely need the drive spindle. The CAS is splined. Here's mine...

The spline makes the CAS extremely accurate with zero timing wander from slop and looseness of the L and Z series 'screwdriver blade' drive distributors. .
