Draker
Get a working fuel pump, a non-plugged fuel filter or lines, or a gas tank that is not empty. 3 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
ck out put of the fuel pump. pull output line then start car gas should shoot out. If you got gas then the needel valve in carb is stuck(lets gas in). wack gently with a screw driver where the gas goes in the carb and maybe it gets unstuck. 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Hey, my car won't start and i noticed the carb fuel bowl is empty how do i refill it? Hey, were not mind readers! If you want some help, use some manners and a bit of brain. Ill hold your hand here! Try something like: Hi guys, my name is xxxxxxxx I have a Datsun xxxxx, with an xxxxx motor. Running an xxxxx carburettor. It has a xxx fuel system fed by an eletric/standard pump etc etc Ive noticed the fuel bowl in the carburettor is empty. Im a douche, but I have put fuel in the tank. datzenmike
First make sure there is adequate fuel in the tank. Do not trust the fuel gauge at the moment. Rock car and listen for fuel sloshing. Below are some trouble shooting tips. Generally, the easiest to the most difficult. First off, remove the gas tank cap and fuel line from the tank at fuel filter and with great care blow into it repeatedly. If you can blow into the hose long enough you will hear air bubbling in the gas tank indicating that the line is free of obstruction. DO NOT inhale the fumes or gas!!!! If you have a compressed air source, use this cautiously. While hose is off, replace fuel filter. Only $4-$5 and no harm is this does not fix the problem. Got gas when engine cranked with starter? You may have to crank for some time to re-fill the gas lines. If filter begins filling this is good. Goes carb re-fill with gas??? NO gas.... check hoses and tightness of all hose clamps on the fuel tank side of fuel pimp. Gas? NO gas.... Take hose off carb fuel rail, add a longer hose and direct into a suitable container. Crank engine. You should see strong squirts of gas come out. Gas is highly flammable, use caution! YES.... gas gushes out of hose. Indicates everything working up to this point. Take inlet banjo fitting off front of carb and remove brass screen. If the brass screen is not plugged, use a suitable wrench to loosen and remove the brass fitting the banjo bolt tightens into, and remove. This is the needle valve holder. The needle valve must be stuck and the fuel pressure not able to push it open. Clean and replace. NO..... no fuel comes out of hose. Indicates the problem is towards the fuel pump. Remove the hose on the output side of the fuel pump and blow in the end. Air should come out the carb end of the fuel rail indicating it is not blocked. Well everything has pretty much been eliminated but the pump itself. 2 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
also I had a a crack in the input hose and would not suck in gas with the manual fuel pump. When I swapped the pump then i notice the crack and said FUCK 3 Quote Link to comment
Nocnir
Hey guys! So the problem was the fuel pump was not pumping the gas and when i took it off,the spring in the inside was not on. So i put it back together and it started working again, but after like 2-3 min it stopped working again. Does anyone know what to do to keep it on so it doesn't keep falling off or do i have to replace it? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Pretty stiff spring, has a piece broken off and it's shorter? Not too short that it doesn't go on but not stiff enough to stay on? 1 Quote Link to comment
