edekalil
Pilot bearing, boy that was a pain to get out. I had screwed it all up tring to use the puller tool. Had to cut a couple of grooves and get it to collapse to loosen up. Never changed one befor, the new one whent in fine. Got to the coffee shop and a old fella told me that if I filled the aera up in where the pilot bearing is with greese and had a shaft the size of the pilot bearing I could slip it into the pilot bearing and tap it with a hammer and the bearing would be pushed out with the grease. Thought that was a cool trick. 3 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
The brass ones in most older cars...I slice with a screwdriver and take it out in two pieces. Easy. The grease trick works-sometimes. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Don't use grease. Use a bar of Ivory soap it's cleaner. then Don't use Ivory soap... takes too long Split with screwdriver and fish out the pieces faster than you can read this post. (I invented this) 3 Quote Link to comment

Draker
I've used the grease method, it works well. All depends on how snug the dowel is to apply pressure on the grease. I've used the screw driver method too.. Just depends on what you have handy at the time. 1 Quote Link to comment
