hobospyder
Dude 22 gauge is way too thin, redeye and I both told you 16 gauge. Probably oil canned the shit out of it and since it's so thin it won't be able to support the weight like the 16 gauge or stock floors would 1 Quote Link to comment

distributorguy
I use 18 gauge, which is closer to the thickness of the Datsun metal, which is metric thickness, close to 19 gauge. Its also tough to weld too - not like fixing a fender on a 55 Chevy. Tonight's project for me is adding a cowl induction hood scoop to a '77 Datsun hood for Bonneville. Fun! 1 Quote Link to comment
SPIDERSHACKOV
If you mean rims... me too. Sorry for the terminology. I have a motorcycle back ground. on a bike the wheel is 3 parts (rim, hub, spokes).lol 1 Quote Link to comment
orangie
Just a bit of advice, don't try to lay a long continuous bead down. It will warp the sheet metal. Do quarter inch stitches and move around the cutout before coming back to the original spot. Also, clean the area to be welded to bare metal as well as the point where the grounding clamp is attaching to. 4 Quote Link to comment
