Louiezkat
After I re tourque the head I went to turn the motor and it cranked half way and stopped. what is the next step?? Should I install new timing components or just set timing without taking front cover off. Im not sure how far the rabbit hole goes any help would be appreciated. Love Japanese tin. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Re-torquing the head bolts cannot possibly affect the ignition or the cam timing. Battery is low? Battery cables dirty or loose? Ground cable on head is loose or dirty. Positive cable on starter loose or dirty. 1 Quote Link to comment
Louiezkat
I loosen more then one bolt at a time doh! I think the head maybe moved cause I put a fresh battery and it cranked half way and stopped it sounded like it caught up? The motor won't turn a full rotation. 1 Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
I would be looking at battery and starter, unless you shoved a prybar down the timing cover or some other extremely unlikely scenario 1 Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
unless you loosened so many that coolant came over the deck and filled the cyl's? thats the only possible thing i can think of that could be related to the retorque 6 Quote Link to comment
Louiezkat
I'm check out the starter hopefully I can get her back on the road quick. Thanks guys I'll post up pics soon 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I'm with dr. Pulled too many bolts at one time. Pull plugs, check for water. Spin engine by hand. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Whatever you do.. make sure you spin the motor two full rotations by hand before you cranks it with the key. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The dowels in the head would prevent the head sliding sideways. If all were loosened it may be hydro-locked... well not hydro-locked but 40 to one compression. Good as. If all bolts were loose you must torque in proper sequence starting from the middle and working out. If you didn't do this, the loosen them all and do it now. RAD 7.....8 3.....4 1.....2 5.....6 9...10 Yeah, now pull the plugs and spin the engine with the starter, but keep back, that water will come out in a hurry. 2 Quote Link to comment

I hit the underside of the 2nd story roof eaves with coolant un-hydrolocking an engine. It REALLY shoots out those spark plug holes. 4 Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
Yep, depressurize the radiator before retorquing the head. 1 Quote Link to comment
