difrangia
I've been doing quite a bit of research and archiving in the process of the NL320 project that I've been immersed in for the past year or so. I'm posting here a little stuff for you guys to work on in the course of your projects and maybe add to the resources that we have to keep these historic vehicles alive and preserved for future generations to enjoy. Several threads here have hashed over the possibilities for re-painting the air cleaners and engines on vintage 60's-70's Datsuns. Aim here is tho pull some of this together and get a study discussion going on this topic. Some Ratsun history on the topic: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/55152-air-cleaner-blue/page-2 http://community.ratsun.net/topic/56894-air-cleaner-housing-rebuild-for-my-620/ http://community.ratsun.net/topic/64874-mighty-mouse-engine-rebuild-upgrades/page-3 These links contain discussion on efforts on repainting engines/air cleaners and attempting to achieve match-up to original state.Taking the lead from the recent spectragraph scan and atemept to match the original paint on my E1 engine block, I've done a little searching on the internet and found this section or a 1981 paint chart for International Harvester which provided the closest match on the engine block (Deep Tartan Blue). Here is the image I developed from the paint chart that I found online: The result:matched with IH 'deep tartan blue': The scan on our original 620 air cleaner came up with a Skoda (Czech car) match but the International Glacier Blue on the paint chart looks like a close match to datsun air cleaner blue. Computer's screwing with me again. More later. Steve 2 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
I have heard that some use Pontiac engine blue also. Isn't it usually metallic though? At least I recall the 60s/70s stuff was... Quote Link to comment
