Steroid
Time has come to start the thread for this year's event ! ! We have already figured out what the t-shirts will look like and the date which will be August 23rd 2014. I wanted to take some time to explain the event a little bit. Each year newer attendees are coming and here is what to expect: First off: We don't give out trophys or awards. Second: The Bar-B-Que is a time to unwind and relax. There is a pool there provided for FREE. Let the stress of Your life drift away. I don't know about others but that is what I do. Third: The Bar-B-Que is now a celebration of LIFE. We WANT those involved in Mini Trucking long ago to attend, which is a REUNION of those that did it in its infancy. We now also celebrate those that have passed on. This is IMPORTANT. We come to mingle, visit and talk mini trucks (not just Datsuns) but the other makes as well. Newer folks are just as important. They are "carrying on the torch" now. Fourth: The idea of having a band after dark takes those from the era that events had live bands back into that time period. We don't want todays music. We want easy listening music that reminds Us of Our youth. Today is stressful enough. We have just one day out of the year to clear Our minds and remember the 70s/80s. This is that day ! Fifth: The Bar-B-Que isnt about hanging out in one spot. We encourage people to mingle, handshake and hug on those We see only once a year. When You have made as many friends as We have You will understand all of this. I am not gay but I hug on everyone. Why, because I am HAPPY to see You each year and celebrate another year of Your life and friendship. The concept of the Bar-B-Que is not that complex to figure out. If You come in a different vehicle, We are not going to critiicze You. We like to see the kids of younger parents frolicking around in the grass and in the pool. We also will offer the homeless person walking by something to eat or drink. We celebrate those of all ages and hope to see them once again next year. Oh, and yeah, We celebrate the trucks that come. Weather they are Hi Tech new school or vintage old school. This somewhat explains the day ! ! ! A CELEBRATION ! ! ! Now with this being said, Our numbers have gone down since having the Bar-B-Que at the Wigwam. I always stay there 3 days as do others. That was why the event was moved. There will always be those of Us hanging around the Wigwam. This was why the event was moved 2 years ago from Martin Tudor park. However, We are considering taking the event back to the park during the day and having the "after party" still at the Wigwam. It is unknown if We will have a band this year. I am still checking. So I will need some input from all of You. Do You want to have the Bar-B-Que at the Wigwam or at the park? I would like to know by May or June. Here is information on both: Wigwam: http://wigwammotel.com/909-875-3005 Martin Tudor Park: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=jurupa+park+fontana+ca&fb=1&gl=us&hq=jurupa+park+fontana+ca&hnear=jurupa+park+fontana+ca&cid=2878385979841839441 The downside to having the Bar-B-Que at the park is that We have to hustle and disassemble everything and take it all either home or back to the Wigwam. With the event at the Wigwam We can hangout all day into the evening and still cook. Possibly prior attendees think there is a charge for having it at the Wigwam. THERE IS NOT. They only hope to sell all 19 rooms, which most of Us take, to have the event there. There is about the same amount of parking at the Wigwam as there is at the park. We can not figure why the numbers have dropped. Maybe it is the type of trees. Anyway, post on here Your thoughts please of where You would like it to be. We still have time to decide. Thank You ! ! ! Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
My vote is we go back to the park & after plaque presentations & we clean up we do our annual "cruise" over to the wig wam then hang out there for the evening. Quote Link to comment
ruckycharms
I second that! The park has a great vibe and the truck lineup is ridiculously awesome. Not to mention the cruise that everyone seems to enjoy. Please please bring it back to the PARK. 1 Quote Link to comment
BRE510
I like the park as it is usually very hot and humid in August and the trees and large gazebos provide lots of shade and makes it more pleasant. I did not attend last year because it was scorching hot and little shade at the Wigwam. Quote Link to comment
datrod
One thing you guys need to understand. Mike is from Arizona. So it's actually cool for him.. I really have no say in this because I have no truck. But my vote is the park. Quote Link to comment
gene knight
i agree on both levels but the park is a nice place to sit it the shade, eat some food, hang out with other datsun people and also show others who are not don't have datsuns/other car clubs what we are about and the cruise to the wigwam is also nice that way there are more datsuns cruising for photo ops Quote Link to comment

More than likely thats where we'll be this year plus the flyer will be designed earlier & posted on a few like minded sites {Roadster / Z car etc...}. & Datrod is right...BHC in August is 115 daily so going to 90 feels just right  Stay tuned only 4 months to go.... Steroid
Here is this years plan..................... Please hold................. Thank You for holding ! ! ! I have sent payment off this week to one of Our SWDP members to reserve Gazabo # 2 once again to Martin Tudor Park. I should receive confirmation by Friday if We get it for Saturday August 23rd. If so, We will be going BACK to the park for the event. A few of Us have already reserved rooms at the Wigwam but there will not be any live band so far to My knowledge for Saturday night. We will once again resume Our "cruise" from the park to historic places and then the Wigwam so start getting Your vehicles in running order ! ! ! ! Lets see if We can break a new record this year ! I will also talk with Trevor very soon about this years t-shirt design. Mark has started working on a printable flyer, time permitting. Only 4 months and 3 days to go so get ready ! ! !
