heating problems with my 1200

i have an A15 with a thermostat in it.

i get to about half on my temp gauge

but in traffic, it starts to get up dangerously

any suggestions on what the issue could be?

also i was wondering what i could use to upgrade my radiator?

what type of fan are you runnin? if its a standard clutch type, i would look into getting a bigger electric fan.

its direct drive, no clutch

electric fan will help alot and it is considered a performance upgrade also how old is the radiator? might want to look into another one im about to throw a vw rabbit one on my car we will see how it works

my 620 is doing this as well but opposite of yours. runs hot on the freeway but hella cool in town. weird. bout ready to just go rabbit, back to VW again, and slam a new rad in. and an e-fan on hte outside. a pusher if you will.

Does it still have the fan shroud? This will increase the fan efficiency at low speeds and idle.

yes it has a fan shroud

sounds like the radiator thats what mine was doing when it started to go out then it got hot no matter what then i had a real problem

That's normal for a Datsun 1200. As long as it doesn't get to the H mark, it is not dangerous. It can get close to the H mark without hurting anything. You can 'fix' it by fitting a slightly larger radiator (B210 or B310 radiator), but it is not needed.

by comon to the 1200, do you mean A12?

because im running A15

i want to make sure the engine will not heat up because i want to be able to take the car on long drives to shows and such (camby.....:D)

I mean Datsun 1200 -- no matter which engine you have in it. Should be OK on a long drive, as long as it never gets to the H mark.
