allfordatsuns
I'm looking for an old thread from a guy who swamped an l6 into his 620 truck can't seem to find it again had pics and everything. I am looking to do the same swap and wold love the guidance of someone who has done it. Before you start I don't need questions like why not a ka, or a VG I have the tools and the know how and the motor just would be nice to see the pics again Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes peeps have put various L6 engines in 620s including Toyota L6, Nissan RB-series and Datsun L-series, but the Datsun ones are more in keeping with the brand spirit. Search for L28 620, L24 620 or L26 620. The term L6 is too generic as it refers to any straight-six engine. The Toyota straight sixes are much shorter, but with Datsun straight six either the engine needs a lot of setback and/or the radiator core support cut and radiator mounted just behind the grille. Perhaps the best way is to mount the radiator in the bed. Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
Perhaps this one? http://community.ratsun.net/topic/26947-project-620z/ What's the inspiration with putting large L6 up front? Looking for more torque? Are you planning to cut the radiator support, or bury the engine into the firewall? Do you have pics of your truck? Quote Link to comment
bonvo
Before you start I don't need questions like why not a ka, or a VG I have the tools and the know how and the motor just would be nice to see the pics again i dont care about this sentance the question is simple why? why go threw all that work for very little power gain not to mention the weight gain in the prosess i get the whole "i wanna be different" but there is a reason this isnt a common swap and that is because its a pointless one in the end you have a ruined truck with an oversized 6 cyl in it and your getting about the same performance as the original 4 banger not trying to be a dick but i really would like to know why you want to do this 1 Quote Link to comment
willz
in a perfect world I would have an extra audi AAN (inline 5 20v turbo motor) laying around and would cram that sucker into my 620 awd and all 2 Quote Link to comment
allfordatsuns
will have pics of my truck up soon to start a build thread :) yep that would be the truck i was looking for thanks guys for the answers. the reason i want to do this is simply the torque and that i have had several cars with both engine setups and have always had better luck with the l24-28. while stock they don't have much more power they do have more torque and with parts they build quite a bit more power than the 4. the plan is to modify the radiator support but weight distribution may change my mind on that. ggzilla
> while stock they don't have much more power You serious? You dont think 150hp is a lot more than 110 hp 1 Quote Link to comment
allfordatsuns
well yes that is a big jump but the motor is also considerably heavier so there is the power to weight topic but i personally love the l28 set up. and the torque is a huge difference especially when you consider torque per hp differences between the two. was just trying to nip the why would you want to ruin your truck and why not do something easier questions in the bud. i really want to stick with a datsun engine in a datsun truck and this is the best power upgrade option to do that. 2 Quote Link to comment

It's his truck. .................................................. Go for it...I have similar plans ........................................................ Found the only other vid of that 620 2 Quote Link to comment
