carterb
The three screws on top of the dash. Looks like they secure the dash to some brackets coming up from underneath. Any tips on getting these big screws out when the windshield is still in? I have a screwdriver tip in a 1/4" drive socket wrench but the screw heads are trying to strip rather than loosen. datzenmike
I used an L shaped screwdriver. It's a tedious process but better than a ratchet. I broke a windshield once just pushing outward on it. Quote Link to comment
carterb
yeah, that's the tough part, pushing down hard enough not to strip. I'll keep at it. --carter Quote Link to comment
carterb
problem solved. I just drilled them out and popped the screw heads off. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Hmmmm I wonder if I gripped the under side of the screw with vice grips to snap them loose first and then undid them? Been over 10 years ago. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Why did you pull it? Cleaning or Changing? Quote Link to comment
Dawa
mission accomplished, i see. but my method was a screwdriver bit on a ratchet. that gives you enough space for your hand to press down on the head of the ratchet to ensure it doesnt try to slip out, as well as enough torque from the ratchet handle to break away that bit. (so, like those offset screwdrivers, but a lil better, aha) Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
Glad you got it out without breaking anything! I thought about putting studs in them to make getting the dash in and out easier but ended up just leaving it alone. Quote Link to comment

Been over 10 years ago. I tried that first - at least on the middle one. but it still wouldn't budge. Quote Link to comment
