jvb5577
A 1200 doesn't weigh that much! according to datsun1200 the one I am looking at (based off VIN #) weights just over 1500. Which is pretty much 1000lbs less than my truck. Now I guess the bigger question is will my hitch setup hold the weight! Quote Link to comment
jvb5577
I'm sure it can.. This is what I am running. Has four bolts that connect it to the frame. No cross member connection though. Quote Link to comment
Fat510
your bumper may have some bends after this trip  Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Datsun 1200s weigh approx 1650 lbs more or less depending on how full the gas tank is. The 1500 figure is a government tare weight not actual weight. In any case much lighter than a VW bug. Quote Link to comment
EricJB
I have flat towed VW bugs all over hell with a stock squareback. Towed them on a trailer with a built squareback, and a slant six Dodge truck that had 126hp. You shouldn't have a problem. Several years ago I had a Ford f250 hauled from Cali to Wa by a transport co. I think it was about $800.00. Having it hauled 200 or so miles shouldn't be too bad. Or you could have it shipped to me and I will pay the bill. Nudge nudge wink wink. Quote Link to comment
jvb5577
Thanks for all the input guys. Looking like I should be able to tow it with my truck once this crazy weather passes. Still haven't heard back from the owner so we will see too. Or you could have it shipped to me and I will pay the bill. Nudge nudge wink wink. Still might be a possibility if I can't get out there.
