Mikeystoy
Thanks! We went to the in-laws for the holiday and after swapping out the radiator, thermo, and belt on my fatherinlaw's rubicon; I pulled the Stinger in and masked off the strobe stripe on the hood. Came out pretty good. 2 Quote Link to comment
king bee66
looks great man! how bad is that rust around the windshield? Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Bad enough; when I can afford a new seal, it'll probably open up some holes. I will fill them with zinc filler Quote Link to comment
Spoona_Jay21
looks great! need some new rims though man =P Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Yeah; I need some turbines for it. Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Been busy; Hobbesthecat hooked me up with Turbines and Cooper Cobras. Right front caliper was dragging, so I borrowed a blast cabinet and sandblasted them. Painted and new kits installed Bearings packed and radius rod bushings replaced as well. I FINALLY got the roof stripped and coated in POR-15, I did the floor as well. 2 Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Busted my ass today; pulled the 60 series 5 speed out of the cricket and swapped it for the 60 series 4 speed in the bee. I had my spare A15 flywheel turned, but I'm dubious whether it was done right. When I got the 4speed out, I found the Bee had a brand new clutch! Which was odd due to the excessive chatter and difficulty getting it into gear. The flywheel looked perfect, the pressure plate looked perfect, the clutch lining looked perfect. However there was a spring halfway out and the plate hub was off center. New luk clutch installed, filled with gl-4, and out. Test drive and pics tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
jaime.g
I FINALLY got the roof stripped and coated in POR-15, I did the floor as well. The roof looks like it came out really good. Is that two new pieces welded in the floorboard? I have some POR sitting around and need to do something similar with my floorboards. Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
One l shaped piece; had some pinholes Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Crickets used 60-series transmissions? Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Mine does ;) It also uses an A14, 1st prelude clutch master cyl, and Capri a/c evap. The original engine is beyond tired; when was the last time you saw a British enge go 175,000mi? Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Man; that 5th gear makes all the difference in the world. Where I was turning 4k at 65mph, now I can get 75 for the same revs. But then, I like to cruise around 65 anyway. Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Was looking at a Craigslist ad for a b2000 and spied another coupe. I stole it from pick and pull for $120, but it's absolute junk. It does have decent black interior, speedo, gx steering wheel, and mint tailights. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Pick And Pull sold you a B210 for $120? Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
I wish I lived near that pick n pull... I paid out the ass for junk with gx trim. Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
I would totally buy those tails and speedo/tac cables off it too.. Damn. Quote Link to comment
0r0B210
Wait…is someone selling parts or just being a dick? lol, jk. But seriously, if someone is selling parts- hit me up! Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
No he had made an appt with pnp for Tuesday. They were going to give him $130 for it. He sold it to me for $120 tonight. I am going to use the cluster, steering wheel, black interior and maybe the chrome taillight surrounds. Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
And yes; I will sell parts off of it. Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
...i say I would, because I don't even have a car right now. :\ Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
I have a pinto wagon I'll sell ya Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
Heh, if I wasn't going out of country I might just buy the B.. But I'd rather get mine back. And I don't know diddily squat about pintos. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Pinto was the best selling subcompact in USA. It also spawned the very successful Mustang II, so V8s fit pinto quite well. The were tough and long lasting didn't rust as bad as the competition. There were heavy so had a smoother ride. They were also heavy so got lousy mileage compared to other similar sized cars. Got 25 mpg while the less expensive and more reliable Datsun 1200 got 38 MPG. Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
Not so much into a V8. People have been trying to get me to do that to my B, they even offer free engines. Not really into it. That is where the 8.8 or 9 rear end ford comes from, is it not? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
No way - the Pinto is a subcompact. The 9.0 comes from big block cars. The 8.8 came out circa 1985 in the Turbo Coupe, Lincoln Mark VII and Mustang 5.0. Quote Link to comment
