homemade center console, carpenter style

so im no carpenter by any means.... it took me a long time to finish this and alot of measuring twice cutting once.  i didnt want a stock console and cut a hole for a stereo. i also really wanted a cup holder. its not perfect but it fits good.  fits inbetween my bench perfect. its gonna be wrapped in carpet tomorrow so ill post more pics.the oak piece in the middle will be shined up to for a classy touch. heres the non-carpeted pic.  enjoy!

Put some finish on there, get a matching steering wheel and it would look awesome!

Be aware that that stereo can get hot.  I doubt you will burn the wood, but you could easily fry your stereo.  If there is no plywood directly above the unit, where I can't see, then it will be fine.  

 

Oh, and good job making it happen.  Thats called progress.

get our the router, sandpaper, and watch this vinyl solution.  Way pimp compared to carpet.
