djlotus
So yeah. Girlfriend and I leave for Scotland on Monday. What should we try and go see? We're meeting my father and his wife there and as of now we've got no itinerary. I honestly have no clue what we're going to do or go see. But if anybody has any ideas or suggestions I'll definitely keep them in mind. Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
The Edinburg tattoo! It's an annual [or used to be annual] competition / expo of almost all the Military and Organizational Pipe and Drum bands. If you have the time, see Loch Ness. The uncle [saint Columcille Latinized as Columba both meaning "The Dove of the Church"] of one of my ancestors exorcised the monster out of the lake in the 8th century. Apparently he may not have done a thorough job. Then there's the Islands, best Scotch Whisky distilleries! 1 Quote Link to comment

Loch Ness... have no idea why I didn't think of that but hells yeah if we can we will. As for the distilleries, I'm sure there will be plenty of them that will be seen, and quite possibly lots of samples taken :) Thanks guys! Quote Link to comment

djlotus
So today we were about and about. We hit up Edinburgh Castle and we checked out the Fringe festival since it was right there as well. Here's a few picture I got as we got around. Hmm Checked out a mill where they make tartans Oooohh Whilst driving around I did glimpse a single Datsun. Looked like a 120Y/B210. Was not able to snap a picture as the driver at the time (my father) didn't want to stop. Saw it for a split second as we rounded a corner. Also saw what looked like a Pulsar GTI-R but it was too late to get a picture. But I did manage to see a nice older GTI and an older Accord. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Scottland is very cool. What to see depends on where you'll be. The UK looks small on the map, but the distances and times between places can be further than they look. When I was there I stayed in Glasgow. I did some night photography in Paisley, which is beautifull and quiet at night. I also took the M8 to the A78 northwest from Glasgow down the coast to the A77, and hit Dundonald castle on the way back to Glasgow. The A78 along the coast is beautiful, and you'll go through Greenock which is another picturesque town. Quote Link to comment
djlotus
So today we made our way to Loch Ness. Here's a picture of Urquhart Castle as well as the water: On our way back through Drumnadrochit we stopped for snacks and potty break and what did I spy as we pulled into the carpark? An Escort club out for a drive! Earlier in the day we saw a bunch of Porsche's out for a drive which didn't really interest me, but when I saw this, I was quite excited. Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
If you look close I think you Nessie in the back eating. Too many "drough an doret". "A wee one at the door" aka one for the road. Quote Link to comment
djlotus
"my father & his wife" - do you call your Mother "his wife"? Because I'm not comfortable with calling her stepmom? Haven't really put too much thought into that one. Quote Link to comment
