PtheDude
HIYA RATTERS. I've got dual 38mm SU's that diesel / stumbles like crazy when shutoff. flails around like I need a fuel cutoff. thats what this is, right? Which is Send and receive? A or B Which side of fuel pump? Is the light nipple a vacuum assist? All thoughts and info appreciated. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A fuel cutoff won't stop the fuel already in the SU fuel bowls. Run on or dieseling can be caused by one or more of these... High compression Too hot a spark plug Too high an idle Too rich an idle mixture Flooding carb Too low an octane gass Best to just hold brake on and lift the clutch just enough to load the motor and shut ignition off. Motor will stall. If an automatic, shut off in drive then put in park. With 3 or 4 tries this becomes automatic and easy to do. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
I don't know what that is, but any fuel cutoff solenoid has to be installed in the idle circuit, otherwise the residual fuel in the float chamber can keep it running quite some time. I've had carbs that could idle for 10 minutes with no fuel supply, just the contents of the float chamber. Quote Link to comment
PtheDude
dang, this thing came with 38mm SU's no idea what it is? Quote Link to comment
john510
Another way to keep it from dieseling is to turn off the key and push the gas pedal to the floor.I have no idea what that part is,probably nothing for the SU carbs though. Quote Link to comment

Left port goes to air box. Right port to manifold vacuum. What it does is provide manifold vacuum to each of the float bowls when engine is shut off to stop fuel flow. 1 Quote Link to comment
