Wesglock
I actually thought about that and could never come up with a scenario that would require me to remove the cross member. I plan on mounting the engine from the top and if I had to remove things like the steering box, steering linkage, drag link, sway bar, etc... the hard line isn't in the way. I'm sure there might some scenario where I would have to disconnect the hard line but I can't think of any atm. Quote Link to comment

Wesglock
What tech are you using for your brake lines? To me unknown, hoping not common knowledge. My hard brake lines are plain steel, purchased as coil on eBay and cut/bent to fit. My braided brake lines are Russell (Earl) brand. All my AN/JIC fittings (straight, 45, 90 and Tee) are Russell (Earl) brand. My tube nuts and sleeves are from Hydraulics Direct (Not sure why I went that route but they are decent/good quality). The Russell fittings are -3 AN The Hydraulics Direct fittings are 1/4" JIC (BTW, -3 AN and 1/4" JIC are the same thing, took me a while to figure this out) Fittings that mated to calipers, master cylinders or valves are 1/8" NPTF Male x 1/4" JIC Male In the rear, where two braided lines connect on either side, I used a M10 Banjo on one end and a Male-to-Male fitting in between the two braided lines. (The Bonjo facilitates the mounting bracket I used on the rear arms) Russell http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/adapt_fit/main.shtml Hydraulics Direct http://www.hydraulicsdirect.com/37_degree_JIC_fittings_adapter_s/1874.htm Hope this what you are asking about... Wesglock
After chasing down all my leaks (omg, this was brutal) and researching how to test the brakes with a booster that isn't connected to an engine (because I still don't have one), progress has come to a crawl. BUT... In preparation for the SR20, these goodies came in last month. Also... I purchased an ST rear sway bar but I'm not sure if I'm going to use it as it hangs pretty damn low and I'm sure I'll have clearance issues. BMW Hella Ellipses I lowered her and put the wheels back on, I think she looks bad anus! 2 Quote Link to comment
gypsy punk
Nothing too crazy to update you with. I finally finished the hard brake lines for the fronts. Slowly piecing together misc. engine stuff in preparation for the big sr20 purchase... What steering box brace is that? Quote Link to comment

Wesglock
Yeah, it was one of my 1st purchases and I didn't realize it at the time that Troy was just reselling them. I can't speak to which is one is better (DP, t3, Datsport, Maddat, etc...) for obvious reasons :) but I'm sure they all provide additional support as opposed to not having one. The gear I have from t3 and Datsport are all quality stuff so you can't go wrong with either of those IMHO. Quote Link to comment

I've been going round and round with decision. Do I go the untrusted and cheap route (CXRacing intercooler and radiator) http://www.ebay.com/itm/180737408704?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/CXRacing-Aluminum-Radiator-12-Fans-Slicon-Hose-Shroud-Datsun-510-SR20DET-/160790345014?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item256fd9f536&vxp=mtr OR Do I go the trusted but very expensive (Datsport) route? http://www.datsport.com/cooling-sr-radic-s14.html Another similar decision I've been fighting is the question of the exhaust manifold. So far, CXRacing is the only manufacture (that I can find) that is making manifolds that has the turbo forward enough to clear my brake master cylinder. They also have the down pipe and exhaust and even stainless fuel lines for the SR. http://www.ebay.com/itm/160713583827?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 The expensive turbo route I can take is a GT30R http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-005&Category_Code=GRT) OR The cheap route, which give me everything (Turbo, waste gate, manifold, downpipe and catback) and still cheaper than just the GT30R, is the CXRacing kit http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-005&Category_Code=GRT Quote Link to comment

I have been looking at the cx racing stuff as well. Have you not heard good things about them? I'm almost to the point of do I just talk to the many friends and see if we can come up with somehing that might fit and make it work or go that rout. Quote Link to comment
Wesglock
That's where I am at now. I have been looking at the cx racing stuff as well. Have you not heard good things about them? I'm almost to the point of do I just talk to the many friends and see if we can come up with somehing that might fit and make it work or go that rout. Honestly, I haven't heard much of anything about CX Racing. The kits that include a turbo are really cheap so I'm sure at least the turbos are made in China. But like I said earlier, they're the only ones that sell a manifold that suits my needs. I could probably find some shop to fab something custom for me but that gets expensive. I think most people run a log mani with a GT28RS and a master cylinder without a booster and that setup gives them enough room. I, on the other hand, am running a MC with a booster and I plan to go the GT30R or GT35 route so I need a mani that places the turbo forward. But hey, figuring this stuff out is exactly what I find enjoyable about this whole deal...it's about the journey not just the destination imho. 1 Quote Link to comment
