Small update.

Picked up some NOS and re-manufactured parts tonight as a package from another datsun nut.

CHROME (or possibly premium ? I'll have to open an investigation.. lulz) NOS Sealed Power 280zx (81-83) piston rings , 280z alternator (re-manufactured quiet bearings) , and a Maxima water pump (Re-manufactured).

I haven't decided entirely which ring-set I'll be using at the moment lol.

That's all for now

That's what I was wondering. I have one that gets the job done, but is pretty awful to use.

Bad units sour the experience :) .... as long as it gets her done I guess.

^^^ With that being said ... I did use it and kept a hammer with brass drift close by after compressing.... in case the tension needed to be released to pop the top.... just once lighty with ball pein or dead blow (no necro bro).

Closest I could see to this unit (at a glance) was on Amazon.com (cheap tool though no name brand anything etc etc)

Alright so #5 intake valve was deemed crap on the valve stem.
The problem area was just below the retainer keeper edge = mushroomed.
Even though it was not bent , and had free operation throughout it's range of lift/spinning.... the awful bugger wouldn't come out without a fight.

I then wen't to my spare P79 head , and borrowed a few GOOD intake and exhaust valves (in case I need more , but not likely).

I forgot to say earlier I pulled out all the valve train on this head obviously. The lifters , rockers , springs , and pads are in the other box on my workbench. All of these components are in order  ;)
