TENDRIL
pretty sure my axle is not right, if anybody has some comparison photos of certain measurements to confirm this, it would be helpful. here is mine driver side pass. side im pretty sure its these mounts that are welded to the axle driver side tire to leaf pass side tire to leaf uneven marks on diff bumper its towards the driver side about almost an in. tires are all the same off-set and it looks really weird with the wheels in the well like evrything is to the left.... Stupid_fast
Thats funny, mine is off center too. I thought it was due to the way I had re-installed the U-bolts and centered on the leafs ... Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
how much off is yours? Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
is this normal? factory defect? Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
my truck's axle is a tad bit off center about an inch. Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
im wondering if its worth it to try and correct, since i dont want to get new wheels and have them look funky.. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Mine is off by about 1/2" ... But I've never measured it properly. When I went to get my car aligned the rear is barely off, so I decided not to worry about it. Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
do your wheels look funny in the wells? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I know of 4 wagons with the axle offset to the drivers side. My wheel is a little more flush on the driver side, but not quite half an inch difference Quote Link to comment
Draynor
Mine is offset a little also. I would say a little less than 1/2" Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
hmmm anybody else? Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Ratwagon is moderately affected by alcohol at the moment, but has PM'd Tendril. I'm hoping to do a rough how to centre diff guide in the next two days. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
i havent measured anything, but i did notice it was offcenter. was going to worry about it after i replace the bushings. 1 wheel barely fit, the other doesnt. Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
I'm still away till tomorrow (your Monday, our Tuesday). Remind me if I forget to getback to you as I have a funny feeling my diff may also be off centre! There's a bucketload of stuff on the Internet about thrust alignment. If your not familiar with the concept, read ths: http://www.freeasestudyguides.com/thrust-angle.html And I'll post more info and pics :) Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Now that I've finished trying to cut off my finger, I'll try and do a measure up of my Goon today. It will be safer than playing with sharp knives (see the Hotwheels thread if this doesn't make sense). Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I did my bushings, and its still off center. Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
About to start getting the goon ready. Hopefully will have some pics up today! Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
yea i completely pulled everything off and measured again and everything is symmetrical on both sides <_< :hmm: than when putting it back together i noticed that the bolt on top of the leaf pack can go side to side in the hole on the mount of the axle about a 1/4 in each way so i pushed the leafs to the left and axle to the right and corrected the major off set.. but still is off centered so i guess there nothing you can do short of cutting and welding mounts, and moving over 1/2 in in which case the mounts will not be centered but your wheels will... Ranman72
so if you measure 1/2 inch difference you are only of center 1/4 inch just in case you didnt know Quote Link to comment

Theres suppose to be a metal plate with a rubber insert and peg thingy that centers the axles on the bolt ... One of mine is broken but I have the other I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. Basicly those 1" holes on the spring perches are suppose to center the axles .... at least that's the only way I see to center them. Quote Link to comment
INDY510
I have this problem on both my 710's .. The driver's side rear wheel pokes out about 1/4" to 1/2" more than the right rear wheel, before and after lowering blocks. Is there an easy way to slide the axle towards the passenger side, without going too far? The top of the blocks have enough room, around the centering pin, to theoretically fix this. Laecaon
Just Joel was making blocks with the pin offset to counter this. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
And to shine another light on the subject... Axles are pushed over to drivers side. you want to push it to the passenger side... But the driveshaft already hangs to the passenger side... 1 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
10mm (3/8") is the typical Datsun side-to-side variance. For the rear it is normal. Edit: corrected mm from cm Quote Link to comment
