hobbes_the_cat
So I have the uber rare locking gas cap that came with this car but the guy before me couldn't get it to unlock it so he broke it to remove it. All that is broke is the two spring loaded tabs that retract when the key is turned. Nissan didn't make a rebuild kit for these did they? I think I'm going to need to hit the junk yard to try to find a similar cap that I can scavenge parts off of to get this one working. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Cheap gas caps have similar parts. Maybe one of those? At worse maybe redeye or icehouse can make you some real quick lolz Quote Link to comment
qwik510
Roadsters have similar locking caps and are less rare then the 510 unit. Maybe you can find one and use it for parts. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Good to know. I'll look into the roadster units. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I would really like to have some words with the "professional" auto body guys that did this work. hobbes_the_cat
Thanks for the link but it is more than I want to spend and 68-69 are a different size than the 70-72. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
ive seen some bad bondo before but holy shit.... Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
So I needed to take the drivers door panel off to try and smooth out the damage a little. I turns out that the hacks that destroyed the door with a slide hammer and bondo also lost the clip that holds the window crank hande on. So what did they do? Use epoxy to glue it on!!! I tried using heat and shocking it with hammer strikes but it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to mess up the regulator so I had to use a chisel. :(. So... I need a 68 window crank. Tristin
Damn... they did a number on the '68. Poor girl :( Quote Link to comment
Bradinnes
Some peoples kids! They just shouldn't work on cars. It's not a giant model kit....Geeez. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
I sold project cream sand today as a roller so I have a bunch of left over extras including these slots. Should I? Quote Link to comment
Bradinnes
Hell yeah! Make sure the brakes are up to snuff. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
I like slots and all, but she deserves better. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
im not a huge fan of the slots to begin with but they dont seem to fit on that goon. Quote Link to comment
Tristin
im not a huge fan of the slots to begin with but they dont seem to fit on that goon. +1 Lowered on caps or maybe some sort of mesh would do. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Really? I hate the lowered on caps look. I was actually thinking of using some wide 13" steelies and powder coat them gun metal grey as another option but I would run no caps and chrome lugs. Hmmm, decisions decisions. 2 Quote Link to comment

Tristin
Hmmm maybe if the mags were black and the tires weren't ginormous. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
or paint the centers of the reliefs and smaller tires.... Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
The tire are just mismatched rollers. They would be lower profile for sure but the rims are too clean to paint black. They would get polished. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Messed around with the motor a little today. It was pretty low on power so I pulled the plugs and they were wasted so I put in a new set and boy what a difference! It still had a lot of rocker arm clatter tho so I pulled the cover and checked valve clearance. The first 4 were right on which surprised me until I noticed this: Quote Link to comment

No Wonder you had some power loss. how bad is the damage and where did it fall off from? Intake? exhaust? Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
It was on an intake. The keeper is a little beat up but I think I can save it. Lash pad was just sitting there undamaged on floor of the head. Must have just popped out. Quote Link to comment
