Aftermarket Pistons?

Recommended Posts

So last week I found a 219 head with a very hot reground camshaft (Schnieder Regrind from 1983)

I needed a block to rebuild after a week of searching I decided to just go back and grab the block I took the head off of.

Brought it home tore it spart and noticed it was overbored to 89MM, also came with a lightened flywheel (11-12lbs)

Anyway these are the pistons, I want to get new ones but I want to keep the compression ratio around the same (9.5:1 - 10.1)

Anyone have a rough idea of what the hell these pistons may be off of, or what I could use in place of them, they're completely flat.

Con-Rods are U60-2

Pin height is about 38MM

Piston is 89MM

Can't be KA as the pin height is wrong anyway.

Piston pin height doesn't match any factory 89mm bore nissan I'm aware of.

Ka24e - 34mm

Ka24de - 34mm

Z24 - 36mm

Although most nissan besides the ka and z did have a 38.1mm piston pin height.

You copied the number wrong... the Z24 is the same pin height as the KA24E at 34mm

Radim... 60s Oldsmobile pistons look somewhat like those.

89mm is the point where you should be getting the block sonic tested before cutting.

89mm will run very hot. It will also not last very long as the bores will likely go out of round more easily.

For the record, L20B blocks usually are not capable of 89mm, neither are Z22 blocks, but each for a different reason. The only block that will safely bore to 89mm every time is a Z20 block.
