DREWSDIME
I am planning on swapping my shocks since I lowered my truck, but wondering what other people have used? I am looking at Bell Tech drop shocks front and rear for about $180. Also I see some Rancho shocks for the front that are 9 way adjustable but they are about $110 each 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
520/521 shocks are the same design as the 720 shocks, but are shorter. I was planning on using them before I went stud/stud design to even get lower. Front shocks are the only ones I am talking about here. 1 Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
Bell tech shocks are overpriced junk. I learned that the hard way. Most people modify a Ford Pinto shock for the front, and use a comparable to stock 720 shock in the rear. Can buy Monroe, or KYB for $20-30 each. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Cut the top mount and move it up a couple of inches and weld back on. Never worry about crappy light weight pinto shocks again. You're lowering not going off road. Lower means slower. Only way I would spend $200 on a pair of shocks is if they were rebuildable. 1 Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
I think the 4wd 720 shocks are shorter than the 2wd. Dont quote me on that. I thought about using the Rancho adjustables on my 720 also. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 4x4 has a longer stroke 0.016" longer... lol but it may be shorter overall. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm going this route, buying new oem shocks tomorrow and moving the top mount this weekend 1 Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
Bump. Any more opinions? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Should be able to use the stock ones. They work all the way down to the bump stops without bottoming. The trouble with lowering is the reduction in suspension travel. You need some suspension travel in order for the shock absorbers to have space to do their job. Once the truck is on the bump stops your suspension becomes the air in the tires. Rubber ball bouncy ride anyone???? 2 Quote Link to comment
waddlin
I know this is a old thread but has anyone tried tockico shocks? I found the trek masters from the frontier 4wd are shorter in overall length. I remember using tockico shocks 20 years ago and they were awesome. Quote Link to comment
