My goal is that when I am done I will have all the info needed to reproduce the parts when needed. So if you have anything to pass on the help will be appreciated!!! datsunfreak
I'll soon be putting the exact same set up in my 210, so very curious to see the mounts take shape. Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
Not sure my 510 info will help much with the 210 as my B210 has less room then my 510's. Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
Test fit in the car to see how the column will fit. My stock 70 pedal setup The wilwoods Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
I need to modify the stock column mounting flange. The cage and rear master are a bit tight but the mod should be easy. More to come. Quote Link to comment

Yes, but the bracket design would be basically the same. Are you worried about the bracket flexing at all? Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
After a bit more cyphering I modified my main pedal bracket to allow me to straddle the column instead of both pedals setting on the left side of column. The gap was too great between the gas and brake pedal with that configuration. This will allow me the ability to "Heal Toe" if I learn how!! lol! Next item to address is the column mount. all cages are different so this might not be of any use to some or most but here is what I chose to do. Using the stock column and machining a UHMW spacer I slid the mounting flange on the column away from the floor pan buy 1" and rotated the flange 180 degs from stock local then pulled some measurements and off to the Jet I went. Next was the reservoirs. I plan on having a Passenger seat for solo as well as needing one for license/school time when I get to the point of putting the car on track. The reason for going to the Wilwood setup in the 1st place was to remove the masters from the engine bay due to ITG breather clearance issues I was having with My 44 mm Muks. Any how here is what I ended up doing. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Very crafty. Now wishing I had got master cylinders with remote reservoirs... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Very crafty. Now wishing I had got master cylinders with remote reservoirs... This is something I've thought of doing... I'd like to run remote reservoirs to help fit the SSS air cleaner. Quote Link to comment

spec-bre
Breather clearance is the only reason I'm doing this. Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
Here's how I did it: Is your column not collapsable?? Quote Link to comment
spec-bre
Thanks for sharing!! Nice, strong and simple!! I like it!! Quote Link to comment
troyt
These are some old pics from my race car build three years ago. The column is just a steel rod with a quick-release steering wheel, I have always planned on going back and installing a double u-joint or some other type of collapse area, but have never gotten around to it. I've been planning an inline steering ratio reduction system (stock car style), so the collapse design has been sidelined. I installed the same adjustable balance-bar Wilwood system you're using, it is designed for use with a cable operated adjustment knob. But once I got the front/rear balance I was looking for, I never have adjusted it further (just one more thing to distract you while racing). I'm running a 3/4" front m/c and 7/8" rear. I used an inline brake pressure gauge to adjust my bias-bar until I was getting 800psi front and 500 psi rear and have left it there. Not shown in this photo are the bracket supports I welded in to prevent any flex. I have a vertical support above the pedals from the bracket to the rollcage, and a support under the hood from the firewall side of the bracket to the shock tower rollcage pickup point. Good job with your fab work, the reservoir access panel is a nice touch. I cut out my whole under-dash cowl panel area, so I access my reservoirs by removing the cowl vent between the hood and the windshield, and go in from the outside. I needed the room under the hood for an airbox. http://www.racingonthecheap.com/final-prep/ Quote Link to comment
