flatcat19
Well kids, this is it. I need a trans mount, driveline and radiator + hoses and my swap is complete. I could have sworn someone named me offered up a radiator a while ago. Do you need a custom driveline? I have the one that came of my A10. Z, auto. Why wouldn't yours work? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
If you swap in a different length transmission, it will need a different drive shaft and mounts. There are three different length transmissions that will work. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Ggzilla you're telling me there is a trans I am able to has that will require no mods at all? Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Not has , use Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Did you keep the same size trans? If you did, no mod. Quote Link to comment

mhub91
I had an L series trans. That's doesn't bolt up to a KA. What's the same length as L series but would mount to KA? Hardbody napz trans? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Which L trans did you have? 4 or 5? 26" or 31" Tech like you knows how to use a tape measure? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
L trans needs Z housing swapped on to bolt on. Dog leg too weak for a KA. Lots of different trans that will work. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Was this an automatic? Now going to KA and you want a 5 speed for it? Too long to go back and read everything. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Automagical trans car like Flatcats will have the same driveline as longtail 620-280z trans you just need to switch bellhousings .. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Thanks guys for your help..... Originally I had a '79 A10 w/ L20 (W58) and a 4 speed M/T. I no longer have the trans or engine for reference. I do remember that the trans. shifter was NOT like the KA's trans. i.e - the KA's shifter is "internal" (at the tailhousing) and L series was 'external' if that makes sense??? maybe? no? flatcat19
It does. I just gave a 620 driveline away. So do you have a trans for it? The 240sx trans? Can you have the driveline cut to fit? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You need an automatic driveshaft and a Z22 or Z24 71B 5 speed that is 31.5" long. (or an L series 71B with a Z series front case swap) Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Couldn't he use one of those short 720 trans also?? I would think using Flats driveline and trans crossmember,,,, longer trans would be way easier to locate and probably cheaper. Quote Link to comment

I have the KA24DE from a '92 240sx. I also have the correct trans for the 240sx. The driveline is not the issue, it's the trans mount. I'm looking for a trans that's able to bolt to the KA and also bolted into the current trans mount. I do not want to spend money and timing paying someone to fabricate one, as I do not have the skills. You need an automatic driveshaft and a Z22 or Z24 71B 5 speed that is 31.5" long. (or an L series 71B with a Z series front case swap) Mike, would this trans apply to what I'm looking for? Mounts to the KA, and mounts to A10 chassis with no fabrication needed? Please don't think I am purposefully trying to go cheap, but I want to do this in a correct manner and not pay hundreds to someone to fab a mounts when i could just use oem nissan and mount it in... flatcat19
Trans mount might be cheaper than a tranny. Flat 1/4" plate and a welder. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
You can buy your own welder for that price. Hell-I think Beebani charges like $100 for his own mount. I'd make a mount with plate, drill, nuts and bolts, and a couple of hockey pucks. Gimme an hour! And make sure I'm drunk first. Quote Link to comment
